After the passing of Alex Trebek late last year “Jeopardy!” fans have been treated to a string of celebrity guest hosts that have ranged all the way from Green Bay Quarterback Aaron Rodgersto “Big Bang Theory” star Mayim Bialik.
The newest guest host to step behind the iconic podium is the NBC News “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, who will take her two-week slot from June 14 – June 25.
But how does Guthrie rank up with the hosts that have come before her?

Guthrie is a 49-year-old broadcast journalist and attorney from Melbourne, Australia. She has served as NBC’s “Today” show co-host since 2012, and also serves as the chief legal correspondent for NBC News.
In addition, Guthrie is also a legal analyst, attorney, and broadcast journalist, who has covered high-profile court cases, such as the Martha Stewart case, and the Michael Jackson trial.
She most recently made headlines for her effective moderating during the Donald Trumpand Joe Biden presidential debate held on October 15.
As one observer noted, "Savannah Guthrie is doing very well so far in this format. She’s being direct, persistent, correcting misinformation, and not letting the president avoid answering questions. Future debate moderators should take notes."

Fans have already threatened to boycott the show over “political” hosts like CNN’s Anderson Cooper, and it seems Guthrie is no exception.
“Seriously? UGH!” a fan tweeted, along with a meme of former “American Idol” host Simon Cowell saying, “It’s a no from me.”
Another fan echoed their sentiments, commenting, “I'd rather spend the time cleaning the litter box, sorting sox, etc.”
Still, not all the comments were negative. “She will be terrific – look forward to watching,” one fan wrote.
“Were I on Jeopardy during those two weeks I think I actually wouldn't be nervous with Savannah as the host! She's so affable and fun-loving, it would seem more like a game and not like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” another tweeted.
The Bowery Mission

Each guest host gets to make a donation equal to the contestants’ cumulative winnings to a charity of their choice.
Bialik, who just finished up her run, donated $194,851 to the National Alliance of Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization that works to raise awareness and “provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need.”

Respecting Alex

Guthrie revealed that the main reason that she decided to accept the offer to become a guest host was to honor the late Trebek.
“I really wanted to do a good job because I wanted to show how much I respected the game,” she explained. “I respect the house that Alex built.”
