Kelly Clarkson's Ex-Assistant Allegedly Had Affair With Brandon Blackstock That Ended Her Own Marriage

Kelly Clarkson's ex-assistant, Brittney Marie Jones, allegedly cheated on her husband with the singer's late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

At the time the alleged incident happened, Clarkson and Blackstock had long reached a settlement in their divorce after going through a public fight that saw her gain custody of their two children.

Now, amid news of Blackstock's death, Kelly Clarkson has cancelled her remaining August dates for her Las Vegas residency to be "more present" with her children, who are grieving the loss of their father.

Clarkson's former assistant, Brittney Marie Jones, is said to have cheated on her husband with Brandon Blackstock. The report comes more than a week after Blackstock passed following an enduring Battle with cancer.

According to Page Six, Jones's now-ex-husband, Greg LaPoint, found out about her affair with Blackstock back in the summer of 2023.

"He got screwed over due to [Jones and Blackstock's] fling starting during his marriage," the source claims.

On social media, traces of their marriage can still be seen with LaPoint writing in a September 2022 Instagram post that "It's hard to believe it's been a year since we said, 'I do.'"

"I can not imagine a world without you by my side, a partner who is as real as they come. A lover, cuddler, and sure spitfire. I am forever grateful I get to call you my wife," he added.

LaPoint went on to share in the post that relationships come with ups and downs, before concluding his post by writing, "I will always be the one you can count on to lift you up."

The insider went further to share that when LaPoint found out about Jones's affair, he immediately asked her to file for divorce.

According to the news outlet, court records show that she did so on July 13, 2023, citing "irreconcilable differences."

However, she listed her and LaPoint's date of separation as January of that year. Their divorce was finalized by February 2024.

It is understood that Blackstock didn't cheat on Clarkson with Jones. Sources say the singer's divorce from the former talent manager happened "long before" his affair with Jones.

Fans of Clarkson got wind of Jones's relationship with Blackstock when his obituary claimed she was his "beautiful and loving partner in life and business."

As reported by The Blast, the obituary stated that the couple had started "building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana."

Jones reportedly lived in Blackstock's Montana mansion as recent as April last year.

Going by her LinkedIn account, Jones worked for Clarkson while she was having marital issues from 2018 to 2022, after which she transitioned to an executive management assistant role for Blackstock's Valley View Rodeo.

Clarkson and Blackstock tied the knot in 2013 but split after 7 years, with the singer citing "irreconcilable differences."

Although she has never commented about Blackstock's affair with Jones, she stated in court documents that the "level of conflict" between herself and Blackstock had "increased" as they had "a difficult time co-parenting due to issues of trust between them."

However, the "Because of You" singer didn't give her blessings to Blackstock's relationship with Jones, as a source told the Daily Mail that the relationship was "the icing on the cake of the disappointment."

Blackstock's death has left Clarkson "devastated" for their children, as it now seemingly puts them in a situation she endured while growing up.

Although her divorce from the talent executive was messy, she made sure nothing came between her children's relationship with their father.

The 43-year-old talk show host had a strained relationship with her father, Stephen Clarkson, who left the family when she was young.

"Kelly's biggest fear during the divorce was that her kids would grow up feeling distant from their father," a source told Page Six. "She always wanted to spare them that. She's devastated for them."

Speaking about Clarkson's children, the source said their father's death "will change them forever, and it's a tragedy that has just wrecked [Clarkson]."

"Brandon didn't turn out to be the best husband for her or the best person to try to separate from easily or amicably, but he was always a very good dad who adored his kids. She will grieve that particular loss forever," they added.
