“He found a homestead and a love in Butte, Montana,” it stated.
It continued, describing Jones as his “beautiful and loving partner,” with whom he built a life and business with creating Headwaters Livestock Auction and establishing The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana, which is described as part of his lasting legacy.
Although the obituary didn’t reveal who Jones was, a December 2024 report on the rodeo business operated by Blackstock and Jones referred to the latter as Clarkson’s “former assistant.”
In addition, Jones’s LinkedIn profile describes her as having “successfully assistant managed day to day for artist, Kelly Clarkson, under manager, Brandon Blackstock, in Los Angeles for music and television.”
Details Of Blackstock’s Demise
Blackstock tragically passed away on August 7, 2025, at the age of 48 after a three-year battle with melanoma, a form of skin cancer.
According to the Silver Bow County Coroner’s Office in Montana, his manner of death was determined to be natural.
Coroner Dan Hollis reported that Blackstock died peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana, under hospice care and surrounded by family.
Kelly Clarkson, who shares two children with Blackstock, River and Remington, had recently postponed her Las Vegas residency to care for their children during his illness.
Despite their divorce in 2022, she remained supportive, focusing on providing stability for their kids.

Just days before the death of her ex-husband, Clarkson broke down in tears during a performance of her song “Piece by Piece” at her Las Vegas residency on July 26, 2025.
In a TikTok video, Clarkson was seen wiping away tears as she introduced the song, explaining that she had rewritten its lyrics multiple times to reflect her evolving emotions and personal growth.
She mentioned that the original version, written in 2015, was filled with hope and dreams for the future, but life events led her to change the lyrics over the years.
“I've never rewritten a song more, and I probably never will," she said. "I wrote this song with a lot of hope and projection for happiness and better than what was happening.”
