In case you didn’t grow up in the 90s or haven’t had a chance to binge watch it yet, “Dawson’s Creek” tells the story of four young adolescents growing up and finding their place in the world. Also starring Michelle Williamsand Joshua Jackson, the show featured 128 episodes and ran from 1998 – 2003.
Katie was only 19 years old when she landed the role, and James was only 20. In a little known fact, Katie and Joshua actually dated during the first season of the show, long before their characters of Joey and Pacey got together on screen.
Although the couple broke up, Katie revealed that he was her “first love,” saying, “I fell in love, I had my first love, and it was something so incredible and indescribable that I will treasure it always.”

The two looked so young, James joked, “#tbt So long ago I can’t remember whether this was the #Emmys or my #Prom” along with a thinking face emoji.
Katie was quick to respond to the photo, reminding James “I went to the prom after we shot the pilot!!!!”
The post gained over 33 thousand likes, with some fans commenting “iconic” while another fan shared, “Omg I can’t believe how long it has been since Dawson’s Creek” along with a laughing face emoji.
Paving The Way

June is Pride Month, and we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention how “Dawson’s Creek” helped pave the way for some epic LGBTQ+ romances on television.
In 2000, during the season 3 finale, Jack (Kerr Smith) and Ethan (Andy Kaufman) shared their first kiss, becoming one of the first openly gay romances in television history.
“I didn’t want it to be just an innocent little peck,” Smith later said. “That’s not what Jack was trying to tell Ethan…The whole point is that we was really going for it. That’s what that kiss needed to be.”
“Every show has a gay character now,” Smith continued. “It’s no big deal, and that’s the way that it should be. We’re proud of what we did. We paved the way for the way things are today.”
