Taylor Swift Finally Hits Back At 'Male Sports Fans' Who Whine About Seeing Her At Football Games

Taylor Swift poked fun at "male sports fans" in a clip teasing her appearance on Travis Kelce's "New Heights" podcast after she faced criticism over her frequent on-screen NFL appearances.

While most players see her presence as positive, some feel the league overuses her image. Despite this, the singer continues attending her boyfriend's games, much to his delight.

Travis Kelce also recently revealed that he enjoys being Taylor Swift's "plus one" and joked he's made her a football fan.

Swift didn't hold back when mocking "male sports fans" in a playful teaser for her appearance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce.

In the clip, Swift quipped, "As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast. I think we all know that if there's one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens — it's more of me."

Her jab comes after some football fans criticized her frequent on-screen appearances during games.

In October 2023, the NFL responded to the backlash, emphasizing that featuring Swift was part of a broader strategy and noting that fan reaction had been overwhelmingly positive.

The league also clarified that most of their coverage is still "focused on the game, our players and variety of other initiatives."

The Athletic recently surveyed NFL players to gauge their thoughts on Swift's appearances at Kelce's games. Most players said the attention generated by her presence had a positive impact on the league.

Still, one anonymous athlete expressed frustration, pointing out that during the season opener, the "Fortnight" singer appeared in the video package "five times" while the quarterback wasn't featured at all. They noted that it doesn't feel "right" since she's not part of the NFL.

While the player acknowledged that Swift drew more attention to the games, he felt the league was overusing her image on broadcasts.

"If she's at a game, they probably show her like six, seven times. People get … sick of it if they keep doing it over and over again," he added.

However, the criticism hasn't stopped Swift from attending Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs games, much to his delight.

In his latest interview with GQ Magazine, Kelce shared that he enjoys being the "plus one" to her events, and she does the same for him.

"I get to be the plus one," Kelce said. "I get to go and be that fan. Because I am a fan [of music]... It's so cool that I get to experience her being that plus one for me on the football field…. I feel that same enjoyment every time she comes to my shows."

He joked that he's "kind of made her a football fan," adding: "She is the most engulfed fan now. She knows what the injury reports look like. She understands what special situations are, third and short — all these things because she just naturally loves to hear about my job."

During the chat, Kelce also opened up about public perception and how it intensified in September 2024 when he and Swift attended the U.S. Open together.

"When you see me hanging out at the U.S. Open with Taylor, it may look like the two of us are partying," the 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end said.

He added, "But I'm just enjoying the fun of being at this really cool event that I always wanted to go to with the person that I love."

Kelce and Swift were spotted in the stands at the 2024 U.S. Open wearing matching red-and-white outfits.

The happy couple sang along to music playing over the speakers at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. They were also seen cuddling and sharing plenty of PDA.

Regarding flaunting their love in public, Kelce noted, "I've become way more strategic in understanding what I am portraying to people. I have a good understanding of how I want to be portrayed."

"I'm starting to phase out of wanting to be known as the party guy," he told GQ.
