Travis Kelce Gushes Over Being Taylor Swift’s 'Plus One' And Turning Her Into A Football Superfan

Travis Kelce is not just one of the NFL’s biggest stars but also the proud “plus one” to Taylor Swift.

In a candid new interview, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end opened up about their relationship, from sharing the spotlight at glamorous events to turning the global pop icon into a die-hard football fan who knows her injury reports.

On August 12, GQ published its interview with Travis, in which he opened up about his relationship with Swift.

During the interview, Travis said that when fans see him alongside Swift at major events, it’s not about glitz or showing off but about enjoying time together.

“When you see me hanging out at the US Open with Taylor, it may look like the two of us are partying. But I’m just enjoying the fun of being at this really cool event that I always wanted to go to with the person that I love.”

Travis loves swapping roles with Swift, admitting, “I get to be the plus one. I get to go and be that fan. Because I am a fan. I’m a fan of music. I’m a fan of art. And it’s so cool that I get to experience her being that plus one for me on the football field…. I feel that same enjoyment every time she comes to my shows.”

The Chiefs star revealed that his influence has gone beyond date nights and public appearances, noting that he turned Swift into a genuine football lover.

“I sort of made her a football fan. She is the most engulfed fan now. She knows what the injury reports look like. She understands what special situations are, third and short—all these things because she just naturally loves to hear about my job.”

From learning the rules to following game-day nuances, Swift has fully embraced the sport, much to Travis’ delight.

Travis first expressed interest in Swift in July 2023 after attending her Eras Tour, saying on New Heights, “I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her… with my number on it.”

By September, Swift attended a Chiefs game in his suite. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” she told TIME.

In November 2023, Kelce told WSJ Magazine, “Being around her, seeing how smart Taylor is, has been f–king mind-blowing. I’m learning every day.”

Swift told TIME, “We’re just proud of each other.”

From holidays to public appearances, the couple continues to show affection, with insiders recently saying they are very much in love.

Travis' interview with GQ was published on the same day Swift made her much-anticipated debut on his and Jason Kelce’s "New Heights" podcast.

In a snippet of the podcast episode, which airs fully on August 13, Swift delivered a surprise that sent fans into a frenzy.

In the middle of the conversation, she teased, “Can I show you something?” Jason immediately responded, “Okay. What do we got? We got a briefcase? Mint green, with T.S. on it.”

When pressed about the contents, Swift revealed, “This is my brand new album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl.’”

The announcement drew an enthusiastic cheer from Travis, who shouted, “TS 12!”

A teaser video of the moment appeared on Instagram just after midnight on August 12, marking the official start of Swift’s 12th era.

While the album cover stayed hidden, Swift’s official website switched to a blurred swirl of orange and green. The update immediately sparked theories across social media.

Pre-orders for vinyl, cassette, and CD editions also went live, with the CD including a special poster. The track list, however, remains a mystery.

Fans watching the "New Heights" set noticed an array of potential Easter eggs behind Swift. A row of orange-covered books featured works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Marc Chagall, and Ruth Asawa. A silver microphone, a football, and a book on Mark Rothko, known for his abstract paintings in orange hues, also appeared in the background.

Another book seemed to spotlight Charles and Ray Eames, the groundbreaking husband-and-wife design team.

While none of these items were explained during the podcast teaser, Swift’s history of hiding clues in plain sight has fans convinced they could point to the themes or visuals of "The Life of a Showgirl."
