Mario Lopez is yet to settle his differences with a former cheerleader. However, he can go about his day peacefully knowing she's banned from approaching him.
The Hollywood heartthrob became embroiled in a $25 million defamation lawsuit after Desiree Townsend slammed him for posting an embarrassing video of her. He filed a temporary restraining order against her and recently earned an extension on the ban.
The small legal victory left a bitter taste in the plaintiff's mouth, who argued that justice was not served. She previously slammed Mario Lopez for becoming uncontrollable on the witness stand, alleging he "completely lost it" and verbally attacked her.
Mario Lopez Scores A Win Against The Cheerleader Suing Him For Defamation

Lopez filed a restraining order against Townsend after she appeared at his home to serve him with lawsuit papers. She filmed the incident and flaunted it on social media, with the actor arguing that her actions not only jeopardise his safety but that of his family.
Lopez, through his attorney, argued that Townsend's actions should be considered harassment. However, she fired back, claiming he and his legal reps had done the same thing to her through his social media platform. The judge had the final say, and they sided with Lopez.
The legal umpire extended Lopez's restraining order to February 2027, noting Townsend must stay at least 100 yards away from him and his family. Following the ruling, the aggrieved paralegal told RadarOnline that she was displeased with the judge's order, labeling it "a very bizarre hearing."
The Former Cheerleader Plans To Appeal The Ruling

The former cheerleader-turned-paralegal implied the legal umpire was biased, saying: "The judge openly stated that I 'needed to be taught a lesson,' despite the statute's purpose being to prevent future harm, not to punish alleged past conduct."
Townsend added that the judge "disregarded Lopez's in-court outburst," justifying his anger instead of registering his behavior as a problem. She stressed that she "strongly disagrees" with the ruling and would file an appeal.
The restraining order extension followed an emotional legal battle that went on for days. The Blast covered the story, reporting that Townsend alleged Lopez had lost control of his emotions during a hearing last Wednesday.
The 'Saved By The Bell' Star Allegedly Had An Outburst

According to Townsend, Lopez became verbally abusive on the witness stand and screamed so much that the judge tried to calm him down. She noted he claimed he was "so p-ssed" as he hurled insults at her, allegedly calling her "crazy," "unhinged," and a "stalker."
The drama between Lopez and Townsend started after he shared an embarrassing clip of her in 2024. The video captured the paralegal slurring her words and dancing erratically, which she blamed on dystonia, a rare neurological condition.
However, Lopez implied she was faking it, given how perfectly normal she appeared weeks later. His words did not sit right with Townsend, who filed a $25 million defamation lawsuit accusing him of using a false narrative that severely harmed her personally and professionally.
The Actor Was Shocked By Iraq's Move To Lower The Age Of Consent For Girls

Townsend wasn't the only issue that disturbed Lopez in 2024, as he was dumbfounded by Iraq's move to lower the age of consent for girls from 18 to 9. The Blast reported that he was among the first celebrities to react to the news, writing, "WTF?" while others echoed similar sentiments.
Raya Faiq, an activist working with female representatives in the Iraqi parliament, spearheaded efforts to stop the proposed legislation alongside other female lawmakers. They argued that the law would pave the way for child marriages and strip women of fundamental rights and protections.
Faiq, in a statement, vehemently slammed the law as a "catastrophe for women." She stressed that it would legalize "child rape" and make it impossible for mothers to protect their children if the fathers chose to marry them off at a young age.

Fans nearly lost it in 2023 when Lopez debuted a swollen cheek and bruises on one side of his famous face. The Blast shared that he dropped the pictures of his banged-up features on Instagram, sparking hundreds of concerned comments.
Lopez explained in the post's caption that his face got injured during a jiu-jitsu training accident; however, he still showed up for work. He credited the superb skills of a makeup artist for covering the wound, with the post's third picture capturing the flawless outcome.
