Katy Perry can’t seem to catch a break from woes!
While in the middle of a legal row with veteran Carl Westcott, the “Teenage Dream” singer has been hit by the repercussions of filming her “Lifetimes” music video in a protected area in Spain.
The clip was shot last July in the Ses Salines Natural Park on the Balearic Islands, and when it was released, it sparked outrage from locals.
Now, a year later, Perry’s second single off her sixth studio album, "143," has cost her a hefty penalty.
Katy Perry’s Music Video Earns Her A Fine of Over £5,000

When Perry, alongside her director, Stillz, recorded the footage, they had reportedly not received the necessary permits from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and the Natural Environment to use the natural park.
After discovering the 40-year-old singer accessed the habitat, the Balearic Islands Government launched an investigation.
Per a press statement, the environmental agency confirmed that "in no case had the production company requested permission" to carry out the project at the reserved location, The U.S Sun reports.
The agency conducted further investigation as to whether any damage had been done to the park before slamming the production company, WeOwnThe City, with a €6,001 (£5,197) fine.
Despite it being tagged a "serious" offense, officials clarified that there was no long-term harm done to the area, and as such, there would be no added penalties.
A Look At The ‘Lifetimes’ Clip
The footage that has now earned Perry a fine shows her cliff jumping, and at other points, she is seen dancing on a beach. She is also spotted partying at famous nightlife outlets on the coast.
Other parts of the production were reportedly captured within the dunes of S'Espalmador, an islet located in the UNESCO World Heritage nature reserve that stretches across the islands of Ibiza and Formentera.
Additionally, there are postcards in the clip, verifying that the filming location was the coast.
Katy Perry Criticized For Exploiting Carl Westcott

The news of the music video fine comes days after the “Fireworks” hitmaker was accused by Carl Westcott’s son, Chart Westcott, of milking his ailing father.
A year after winning a property dispute against the elder Westcott, Perry filed a lawsuit against him, seeking about $6 million in damages.
As The Blast reported earlier, Chart alleged that the mom of one took advantage of his elderly dad. "She has chosen to fight a dying man in court, all for money. OK, that's who we're dealing with here," Chart said of Perry.
He continued, "There's no argument to justify what's happening here from a moral perspective, like this is the exploitation of a man whose mind and body are basically shutting down, and he's being dragged into court."
Chris Pratt Dragged Into The ‘Dark Horse’ Singer’s Legal Battle

The trial is set to start on August 21, and both Chart and Perry are to testify. Additionally, actor Chris Pratt is expected to appear as a material witness in the case.
As The Blast reported earlier, Pratt is connected to the matter as he rented the home from the “Unconditionally” singer.
Given that Perry alleged that the house was unlivable during the period of litigation, a source disclosed that the Westcotts’ legal team needed the “Star-Lord” actor to establish the timeframe of his rental agreement with Perry.
"Perry has claimed millions of dollars in damages, and claimed that it's not livable," the insider said. "[The house] is liveable because an A-list actor is renting it."
Are Justin Trudeau And Katy Perry Dating?

Amid Perry’s troubles, it looks like she has one thing good going for her, and that’s her seemingly budding romance with Justin Trudeau.
In addition to the previous dinner dates the 53-year-old and the songwriter enjoyed, Trudeau was recently seen at Perry’s tour having the time of his life.
Per The Blast, Trudeau was captured on camera, lost in the moment as he sang along with the music star. The politician was in all smiles as he danced to Perry’s hit song “Roar.” At one point, he gazed at the singer focusedly, appearing to be mesmerized by her.
Perry recently separated from her partner Orlando Bloom, and Trudeau ended his marriage to his wife, Sophie Grégorie in 2023. Whether there’s a romantic relationship between the duo remains to be confirmed.
