Brad Pitt is mourning the death of his beloved mother, Jane Pitt, at 84 while also grieving a deeper loss.

For nearly a decade before her passing, Jane was heartbreakingly cut off from all six of Brad’s children, a consequence insiders blame on Angelina Jolie.

Now, never-before-seen photos and emotional sources are painting a devastating picture of a family torn apart.

Jane Pitt, lovingly known as "Grammy," passed away without seeing her six grandchildren for almost a decade.

According to sources close to Brad, the estrangement was “gut-wrenching,” and largely blamed on Angelina Jolie. “The most gut-wrenching part is that Angelina kept the kids away from his parents, from their own grandparents,” one insider told the Daily Mail.

“It's one thing if she wants no contact, but what about the kids?” the source continued. “The question Brad has—that we all have—is, Angelina, where is your heart? Are you going to remain bitter for the rest of your life?”

Brad's parents, Jane and Bill Pitt, were reportedly cut off from all six of his children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.

Jane’s obituary in the Springfield News-Leader highlighted her deep connection with all 14 of her grandchildren, including those from Brad’s siblings Doug and Julie.

“Known affectionately as 'Grammy,' Jane found immense joy in celebrating each grandchild’s uniqueness through one-on-one traditions lovingly known as 'Your Special Day,’” it read.

Rare images obtained by the Daily Mail reveal just how close Brad Pitt and his mother truly were.

One especially touching photo from the 1980s shows a young Brad hugging Jane backstage, dressed in a red gown, gloves, and gold star earrings for a college play at the University of Missouri.

Jane had always been his biggest supporter, even before he became a global icon with "Thelma & Louise."

Brad remained close to his Midwestern roots, often returning to his hometown of Springfield.

In 2019, he was seen embracing his mother again during a visit home.

Although Jane and Bill mostly stayed out of the public eye, they occasionally appeared alongside Brad at red-carpet events.

The emotional damage of this family rift has taken its toll. Not only have the kids dropped the Pitt surname, except for the twins, but some, like Pax, have openly lashed out.

In a previously unreleased 2020 Instagram rant exposed in 2023, Pax called Brad a “world class a--hole” who made his siblings “tremble in fear.”

Sources say Jolie continues to blame Brad for the separation. However, those close to the actor say he’s been actively working through recovery, including the Twelve Step program.

“He's done his eight and nine steps,” a source shared. “It’s an ongoing practice and he's working the program.”

Step eight and nine involve making amends to those harmed, which Brad has reportedly been doing.

“Brad wants nothing more than to have resolution with his kids and to restore a relationship with them,” a source said. “He said his own family, especially his parents, and now his dad, shouldn't have to suffer from something they had no part in.”

Despite the heartbreak, Jane Pitt never directed her pain at the children.

“It was unfortunate, but it became her life—she had to adapt,” a family friend explained. “She also understood what was happening and never took it out on Angelina or her grandchildren.”

Jane’s obituary reflected her warmth and passion for art.

“Jane was a gifted artist who expressed herself most vividly through painting,” it read. “Her love for art became a cherished bond between her and her grandchildren during craft sessions and painting lessons.”

Brad is said to be “devastated” by the years his children missed with their grandmother and now fears his father Bill will suffer the same fate.

“Hopefully this is a wake-up call,” one insider noted. “Life is too short and too precious.”

While he may be locked in a legal and emotional war with Jolie, Brad still believes his children deserve a relationship with their extended family.

“He said Angelina should have been encouraging the kids to maintain a relationship with their grandparents all along,” the source added.

Above all, Brad wants Jane to be remembered not for the sadness but for her love.

“Of course it was a shame and hugely emotional that she was unable to see Brad's kids for years,” the insider said. “But she understood. She was a mother to Brad, Julie, and Doug—and a grandmother to all their children.”
