Paige DeSorbo opened up about her decision to leave Bravo's "Summer House" in June 2025. At the time, the reality star, who's gone on to launch a successful podcast and release a New York Times bestseller, said that it was "time for this chapter to close." But now, during a new podcast appearance, DeSorbo, 32, is spilling more tea about her unexpected exit.

Paige DeSorbo Gets Real About Her Decision To Leave Bravo's 'Summer House' Behind Her

On the "Bravo By Gays" podcast, DeSorbo, who joined the "Summer House" cast during season 3, revealed she mulled over her decision to leave the show for "months and months."

"I definitely felt different leaving last summer. There was something where I had this gut feeling where I was just like, 'This is probably the last time I'll ever leave this house,'" the reality star said.

According to DeSorbo, as season 9 was airing, she realized she wasn't in the headspace to film another season of the reality series. "'Like, I'll literally die,'" she thought to herself.

"This past spring, I was like, 'I really need time off. I don't physically think I could film 'Summer House,'" she added.

Paige DeSorbo Said Filming Another Season Wouldn't Have Allowed Her To Be 'Authentic'

Another reason DeSorbo decided to leave "Summer House" in the past is that her life has evolved since she joined the show in 2019.

"I wouldn't have been able to come this summer and be truly authentic," she said.

"Because I've worked so much this year, I don't want to go out on a Friday and Saturday night," she added. "It's not my vibe anymore, and I feel like I was taking a spot from a younger girl who should have the same opportunity I had when I was 25."

DeSorbo's co-star, Amanda Batula, agreed with her statement, adding, "... it’s exhausting to go out to the Hamptons every single weekend, driving back and forth, sitting in the traffic, all the partying, the drinking. It’s a lot. And I think she went through it last summer, and she just needs a break. And I respect that.”

And although she respects DeSorbo's decision to spend this summer doing what makes her happy, Batula believes DeSorbo will return to the series at some point.

“I’m calling it taking a summer off,” she said, later adding, “I’d like to think that she’s not done. I know that she is not done with TV."

West Wilson, who joined the series in 2024, also expressed his displeasure with DeSorbo's exit from the show, telling his podcast listeners that filming without her "sucks."

“I think our senses of humor were the same,” Wilson said. "If I made a joke ... she would laugh first."

Kyle Cooke weighed in on DeSorbo's exit, too, admitting the move "surprised" him. “It didn’t really hit me until I posted about it and I clicked ‘post’ and I started crying. I’m like, ‘Oh my god,'" he said in a previous interview.

Along with DeSorbo, "Summer House" is losing two other cast members: Imrul Hassan and Lexi Wood.

"I meant to share this last week, but with everything going on, the timing didn't feel quite right," Hassan said online, covered by The Blast. "I've decided not to return for another season of 'Summer House' - I know, shocking!"

Wood, on the other hand, said she learned a lot from her time in the shared house, later mentioning her tumultuous relationship with ex-boyfriend and co-star Jesse Solomon.

"I stood up for women and for what's right, even when it wasn't easy, and I'd do that again in a heartbeat," she said. "I'm leaving Summer House with no regrets (Well… maybe one)," before saying she was "proud of the way I handled myself" and "proud of what I walked away from."

What Can Fans Expect From The Next Season?

Aside from who's departing the series, fans can expect to see more of the show's only married couple, Batula and Cooke, along with their best friends, Lindsay Hubbard, Carl Radke, Ciara Miller, Wilson, and Solomon, when the show returns with new episodes next year.

Filming began in early July 2025 and is expected to conclude in mid-late September.
