Tom Brady has been called out by one of his former NFL colleagues, Mitchell Schwartz, after he seemingly took a swipe at his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen.

The football legend said in a recent newsletter that he saw his career as a central part of being a good father to his children, even though Bündchen was known to be uncomfortable with how much time he dedicated to the sport over family.

Since Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen's separation, the supermodel has moved on with her Jiu-Jitsu instructor, Joaquim Valente, with whom she recently welcomed a child.

Former offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs, Schwartz, has slammed Brady for his subtle dig at his ex-wife, Bündchen.

Brady's 13-year marriage with the former Victoria's Secret angel ended back in October 2022, following her known dissatisfaction with how he pursued his career goals at the expense of their family at the time.

In his recent newsletter, the NFL star told fans that he saw his career as a central part of being a good father to his three children, two of whom he shares with Bündchen.

However, Schwartz seemingly took sides with the supermodel, questioning why Brady should play football well into his 40s despite amassing massive wealth.

"Lots of hilarious things Brady wrote, but this one does it for me: 'For instance, I think part of being a great father is being a great example of doing what it takes to take care of your family. I chose to do it by playing football,'" Schwartz wrote in a post on X, referencing Brady's newsletter.

He continued, "Yes, years 20 to 23 were really vital for ensuring his family was 'taken care of.' Over $200 MILLION earned in 19 years, just on the field, but he still needed to 'do what it takes to take care of (his) family."'

Despite these impressive figures, Brady claimed in his newsletter that he saw his career as a mainstay in his quest to be a good father to his children.

Speaking more about his parenting and family, Brady noted that his "dedication" to football was his way of supporting his kids as she showed them what it takes to be "good at your job."

He noted, "My dedication to the sport, the hours of practice, the moments when I was laser focused - those were times when I believe I was doing the best possible thing for my family and my kids, by prioritizing my profession and teaching, by example, what it takes to be really good at your job, what it takes to follow through on commitments, what it takes to be a great teammate; and showing them, also by example, that work is a big part of all of our lives."

Brady further stressed that kids "see everything" and that "reading bedtime stories and helping them with homework are not the only ways to be a great parent. And neither is winning Super Bowls or MVPs."

Bündchen, in a 2022 interview with Elle, had spoken about her concerns regarding the violent nature of football and her wish for Brady to be "more present" with their children.

"Obviously, I have my concerns - this is a very violent sport, and I have my children, and I would like him to be more present," she told the news outlet in September 2022. "I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for them. He needs to follow his joy, too."

In the same interview, she said she'd done her "part," which was to "be there for" Brady and focused on creating "a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up" before adding that she felt like she'd "done a good job on that" amongst others.

Following their split, Brady is said to have clashed with Bündchen after their marriage was put on blast during his Netflix roast, which featured comedians Nikki Glaser and Kevin Hart.

The football legend regretted the impact the crude jokes on the show had on his kids and described it as his "f-ck up" as a parent during an appearance on the "Impaulsive" podcast.

"It was tough on my kids for sure," Brady said when asked if he regretted doing it. "You don't know what to expect, and I love laughing at myself; it felt like I was in the locker room. And the harder people go at me, I'll actually love it."

"If people make fun of you, then I know I'm good with them. And I don't take myself too seriously, but I do understand that for my kids, that was really hard," he continued.

Brady then added, "There are some things as a parent you f-ck up and you don't realize until after. We're not perfect parents. There's no perfect manual for it, and you have to evaluate yourself as a parent too, all the time."
