Nashville-based singer-songwriter Laura Bryna has built a reputation for foot-stomping, bold anthems like “Over Being Under You” and “Certified.”

But her latest track, “Rise,” which was released on August 1, takes a more vulnerable turn, showcasing her emotional depth while staying true to her outlaw spirit.

Laura Bryna's collaboration with genre-blending artist Common Tribe blends stripped-down country sounds with raw grit, creating a powerful anthem about resilience, identity, and self-belief.

“To me, ‘Rise’ is about standing tall when the world tries to keep you down,” Bryna told The Blast exclusively. “It’s that outlaw spirit. The kind that says, ‘I’ve been knocked around, but I ain’t staying down.’"

She added, "This song is for the fighters, the rebels with scars, the ones who walk through fire and come out stronger. ‘Rise’ is my anthem for not backing down, and I know I’m not the only one who needs that reminder.”

Bryna says she knew right away that Common Tribe was the perfect collaborator.

“My manager sent me a link to Common's Spotify and I immediately felt that fire. You can hear the truth in his voice, the grit in his storytelling,” she recalled. “When ‘Rise’ started to come together, I knew it needed that kind of raw, unapologetic energy. We were both coming from different worlds musically, but we share that same outlaw heart and belief in making music that actually means something.”

For Common Tribe, known for weaving gritty rock, blues, and soul into confessional lyrics, “Rise” was the perfect match.

“This song is about rising up from the ashes, and Common brought this grounded, spiritual depth that took it to another level. It wasn’t just a feature. It was a true collaboration that felt like fate,” Bryna added.

Laura Bryna Shares The Personal Story Behind Her Most Soulful Track Yet

While Bryna recently delivered feel-good tracks like “Blue Jean Crazy," a patriotic, windows-down anthem, and the pop-inspired “Painkiller” (soon to receive a remix from DJ Sam Feldt), she says “Rise” came from a very different place.

“I never want to live in just one lane. I’m constantly evolving as an artist, and that means letting the music reflect where I’m at emotionally and creatively,” she explained. “‘Rise’ came from a deeper place, it’s raw, it’s reflective, and it taps into the parts of life that aren’t always shiny and loud. I love a good party anthem, but I also believe in giving people something that speaks to their soul.”

That soulfulness stems from personal experience. Bryna shared that the song was deeply inspired by her brother’s resilience after suffering a brain aneurysm.

“Watching him fight his way back, day by day, with grit and grace... that kind of resilience sticks with you for life,” she said. “He never let it define him, and that spirit really shaped the heart of ‘Rise.’ It’s about digging deep when life tries to break you, about believing there’s light even when all you see is darkness.”

Finding Strength In Her New Song

For Bryna, the ultimate goal is connection.

“I hope when folks hear ‘Rise’ for the first time, they feel seen. Like someone out there gets it, that kind of bone-deep exhaustion but also that flicker of fire that refuses to go out,” she told The Blast. “I want them to feel hope, but not the sugarcoated kind, the real kind that’s earned through hard days and heavy nights."

She added, "If this song gives someone the strength to stand back up, take one more step, or just breathe a little deeper... then it’s done its job.”

The track will get its live debut soon, as Bryna has a string of performances lined up, including a run at the legendary Knuckle Saloon during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, as well as shows in Cleveland, Memphis, New Orleans, and a special set at Universal’s City Walk.

“‘Rise’ has that live energy that just hits different when you’re face-to-face with the crowd,” she said. “I can’t wait to share it with folks who need a little fire in their spirit.”

Looking ahead, Bryna says she’s not rushing into a full-length project just yet. Instead, she’s loving the flexibility of releasing singles every six to eight weeks.

“Honestly, what excites me most right now is the freedom to keep evolving. I’m not boxed into one sound or timeline—I’m just letting the music lead,” she explained. “There’s no album in the works at this point because I’m loving this strategy of dropping a new song every 6 to 8 weeks."

She added, "That said, there has been some talk about pulling a few of these songs together for an EP... and who knows? 2026 might just be the year for a full album.”
