Jennifer Esposito is a 48-year-old American actress and author from Brooklyn, New York. After starring in films like “Taxi” and “Crash,” the “Don’t Say a Word” actress is also known for her high-profile marriages to celebrities like Louis Dowler and Bradley Cooper.
Although she first got her start as a model, her career transitioned into an actress and later into an entrepreneur, after she was diagnosed with celiac disease. She has since launched a website and blog to share her experiences and spread awareness about living a gluten-free life.
Celiac Disease

Celiac disease is a condition faced by over two million people in the United States alone. Although many people think of it as a food allergy, it is actually a condition in which gluten causes damage to the lining of the small intestines and blocks the proper absorption of nutrients.
People who have celiac disease need to avoid products containing wheat, barley, and rye, as well as check the ingredients label closely in many sauces, processed foods, medicines, and vitamins.
The “Blue Bloods” actress revealed that she wasted many years following “misleading advice” as she searched for “the reasons behind a litany of unexplained ailments.”
“It was hard, but it was also the day I realized the person I once knew as ‘me’ was gone,” she said. “Now I’m a food detective – food gives me life, but I know it could also harm me.”
Jennifer’s Way

In response to her diagnosis, Esposito opened up a gluten-free bakery in East Village, New York called Jennifer’s Way.
Unfortunately, in 2016, she was slapped with a $43 million dollar lawsuit by her investors and ex-husband, Dowler. In a Facebook statement, she told her fans that she was no longer in charge of Jennifer’s Way and warned them that online muffin orders “cannot – repeat, cannot – be trusted.”
Jennifer’s Way closed its doors the following year. In a lengthy Facebook post, she wrote:
“I opened this place 5 years ago with the one goal- help people like me feel safe while enjoying food. It has been a long long road and so hard running my own business. I’ve had some amazing people along the way lend their time and love and some awful soulless individuals who tried to take something pure and make it for their own gain. To everyone’s disbelief and against odds I have remained standing. Only a handful thought I could even stay open for more than a few months, never 5 years. I am so very proud of not only what I managed to withstand here but so beyond thrilled how many of you I was able to help and feed safely.”
She concluded her statement by saying, “I am FAR from done with bringing you safe, reliable, TRUST WORTHY delicious food, it’s just time to regroup.”
Rocking Her 40s

Despite the drama surrounding her baking misadventures, Esposito is known for having a fantastic sense of humor. When rumors that Lady Gaga started dating her then-ex Bradley Cooper, Esposito was “caught” commenting on an Instagram post from David Spade.
After posting a screenshot of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper singing together from the movie “A Star Is Born,” Spade captioned the photo: “Is there any chance these 2 aren’t f—king?”
Esposito responded with a simple “Ha” only hours after it was posted. The interaction gained over 48 thousand likes.
Sense of Humor

In an interview on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” she told host Stephen Colbert a massively embarrassing story of a time where she was the victim of a massive autocorrect fail.
When a newly single Esposito and a male friend were looking to catch up, she meant to text “Come on by the bakery.” Instead, her phone sent the message, “Come on my back.”
Although some of us would be mortified by such a mistake, the fact that Esposito can look back on it and laugh only adds to her charm!
