The English city was full of grieving fans who proudly showcased their love and support for the heavy metal legend. The iconic Black Sabbath Bench on Broad Street has since been converted into a memorial site, with numerous flowers and gifts.

Ozzy Osbourne took his final breath on July 22, 2025, weeks after his final performance and reunion with his beloved band. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Osbourne, and six children. He shared three kids with his ex-wife, Thelma Riley, and welcomed three more with Sharon.

Ozzy's fans shut down the streets of his hometown to say their final goodbyes before he was returned to the earth. "Hours before the funeral procession and Ozzy Osbourne fans are filling up Birmingham's Broad Street. 'Sod work!!' one told me," a fan shared on X.

The social media user dropped a video capturing the large crowd at Birmingham's Broad Street and the massive pile of tributes adorning the Black Sabbath Bench. Fans were seen patiently waiting for the funeral procession to start, queuing behind crowd control barriers while safety officers patrolled the area.

TMZ reported that some people arrived early Wednesday morning to secure the best viewing spots. The funeral procession shall start with Ozzy's hearse leading the way from his UK home to the Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge before stopping at his final resting place.

Sharon Osbourne And Her Kids Shall Join The Funeral Procession

According to the outlet, Ozzy's wife and his family shall follow the hearse in cars while a local brass band plays tunes along the way. Additionally, notes and letters addressed to the late singer adorned the procession route, adding a sentimental touch to the memorial.

Ozzy's final sendoff comes weeks after his heartbreaking passing at 76. The Blast shared that his death sparked renewed interest in his life and legacy, including his past comments about his ideal funeral. In a 2011 interview, he claimed he wished to be celebrated rather than mourned.

The late singer explained that he was "very lucky" to be happy as a rockstar because others drowned in misery. On that note, he did not want his loved ones to grieve his death but find comfort in the fact that he lived a great life. "I don't want my funeral to be sad, I want it to be a time to say 'thanks,'" Ozzy declared.

The Late Rockstar Was Conflicted About His Funeral Music

During the 2011 interview, Ozzy stressed that he wasn't picky about his funeral music and claimed his family could play a Justin Bieber song as long as it made them happy. However, he changed his tune in 2016, noting he did not want a joyous atmosphere.

Ozzy explained that his funeral shouldn't be a happy occasion because he was dead, and that should be reflected during the ceremony. As for his funeral music, he declared that his music should not be included as he would be "f-cking embarrassed" if it were.

Instead of his songs, Ozzy hoped to honor the Beatles. He claimed the iconic band influenced his music career, recalling that he became a fan after hearing their 1964 hit "She Loves You."

As for what Beatles song he would like, he stated that anything from the albums "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" or "Revolver" was perfect.

The rock and roll icon's death came years after he battled Parkinson's disease, a debilitating condition that eventually rendered him immobile. The Blast shared that he was initially diagnosed with the condition in 2003 but did not go public with the health problem until 2020.

Three years after sharing his Parkinson's disease diagnosis, Ozzy confessed that it had been challenging living with the condition. "It's been five years of absolute hell for me and the family. My family has been so supportive. I couldn't have done it without them. It's been really a bad scene," he said.

His son Jack echoed similar sentiments during the 2023 interview, claiming his father suffered from other health problems. The media personality explained that Ozzy's condition worsened after suffering from a neck injury and a nasty fall that required surgery in 2019.

Sharon and Ozzy were together for over four decades, with the former "The View" panelist serving as her husband's music manager. She was the foundation behind his stellar achievements, staying by his side through numerous challenges and trials.

Given her part in Ozzy's legacy, it was unsurprising that Sharon was working with her children to ensure the heavy metal icon's memories are protected.

Reports claimed she was working hard to guarantee her husband was remembered as a lover and an iconic musician whose world revolved around hers and vice versa.
