Jamie Lee Curtis Laments 'Better Is Fake' Plastic Surgery Mindset In Hollywood

Jamie Lee Curtis' pro-aging stance remains stronger than ever, as she recently slammed the growing trend of plastic surgery in the entertainment industry.
The Hollywood veteran has been vocal about her distaste for women enhancing their looks through cosmetic procedures and frequently advocates for body positivity and self-love. She doubled down on her "natural is better" belief in a new interview, advising people to accept the aging process.
Although Jamie Lee Curtis disapproves of plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures, she is not the type to condemn women for these practices, a point she repeatedly echoed. However, slamming the government, particularly Donald Trump's administration, was a different story.
Jamie Lee Curtis Is All About Pro-Aging

Curtis did not mince her words while addressing the growing use of plastic surgery in Hollywood and even posed for a shocking portrait to drive her message home. She donned a tartan jacket with huge plastic red lips over her mouth, mocking the use of lip fillers with the oversized object.
"The wax lips is my statement against plastic surgery. I've been very vocal about the genocide of a generation of women by the cosmeceutical industrial complex, who've disfigured themselves. The wax lips reallysends it home," Curtis declared. She claimed "genocide" was the appropriate term to use, saying:
"I've used that word for a long time, and I use it specifically because it's a strong word. I believe that we have wiped out a generation or two of natural human [appearance]."
Curtis said that generations of women have lost their natural appearance to cosmetic procedures, stressing that the trend would continue thanks to AI filters.
"The minute I lay a filter on and you see the before and after, it's hard not to go: 'Oh, well that looks better.' But what's better? Better is fake," she argued in the Guardian interview.
The Hollywood Veteran Doesn't Judge Cosmetically Enhanced Women

Although Curtis disapproves of plastic surgery, she does not discriminate against those who take the cosmetically enhanced path. The same applied to her "Freakier Friday" co-star, Lindsay Lohan, who has repeatedly denied enhancing her looks despite her drastic transformation.
When asked about her co-star's new face, Curtis stressed that she did not judge how people chose to live their lives. She did not state if she believed Lohan had undergone cosmetic surgery, but applauded the younger actress's talents.
"I try to mind my own business. She doesn't need my advice. She's a fully functioning, smart woman, creative person," Curtis said. She echoed similar sentiments about women who opt for plastic surgery, saying:
"I don't care. It doesn't matter. I'm not proselytising to them. I would never say a word. I would never say to someone: What have you done? All I know is that it is a never-ending cycle. That, I know. Once you start, you can't stop. But it's not my job to give my opinion; it's none of my business."
Curtis Doesn't Want To End Up Like Her Late Parents

Besides advocating for natural beauty, Curtis noted that she understood the pressure of maintaining a youthful appearance in the entertainment industry. However, she wasn't planning on watching her career end because people valued her face more than her talents.
"I witnessed my parents lose the very thing that gave them their fame and their life and their livelihood, when the industry rejected them at a certain age. I watched them reach incredible success and then have it slowly erode to where it was gone. And that's very painful," she explained.
Curtis added that she has been" self-retiring for 30 years" and planned on leaving Hollywood before getting kicked out like her late parents. PEOPLE covered the actress's "nepo baby" upbringing, sharing that she was born during Janet Leigh's third marriage to Tony Curtis.
More About The Entertainer's Famous Parents

Tony and Janet were true entertainment royalty, famous for their iconic performances in Hollywood's golden era. They were married for 11 years after tying the knot in 1951 and ended their union in 1962, with both agreeing that their marriage was "difficult."
The late entertainers welcomed two children, Kelly and Jamie Lee, who followed in their footsteps to become actresses. The oldest made her debut in the 1958 movie "The Vikings" and starred in other popular works like 1987's "Magic Sticks" and 1991's "The Devil's Daughter."
On the other hand, Jamie achieved greater success as an actress thanks to her parents and once labeled herself "an OG Nepo Baby." She became a star at 19, crediting Tony and Janet's incredible careers for inspiring her to become the entertainer she is today.
Jamie Lee Curtis Suspects Stephen Colbert's Exit Stemmed From Politics

Plastic surgery wasn't the only subject Curtis disliked, as she has been vocal about her issues with the government, specifically Trump's administration. The Blast reported that she suspected the president might have been behind the cancellation of Stephen Colbert's "The Late Show."
Colbert lost his talk show host position this month after CBS announced the program would conclude in May 2026. The timing coincided with Colbert's complaints about the network's parent company, Paramount Global's million-dollar settlement with Trump over a lawsuit.
Curtis believed the timing wasn't coincidental and dropped her theory on social media, writing: "Yes, they're trying to silence people, but it won't work. It won't work. We will just get louder." She previously shared similar sentiments during the 2024 elections, imploring fans to protest against Trump's tyranny.
