Taylor Swift's New Movie Role Is Driving Fans Crazy

Taylor Swift is a 31-year-old singer-songwriter with 161 million followers on Instagram. After originally getting her start in country music, the artist later forayed into pop. In 2020, she took the leap into the indie-folk genre by releasing not one but two highly successful albums (“folklore” and “evermore”) which were produced entirely in quarantine.

While the singer is busy re-recording her old music catalog, she has recently been tapped by “American Hustle” director David O. Russell to star in his upcoming film.

Although best known for her musical hits like "Shake It Off" and "Love Story," Swift already has a few acting credits to her name. 

One of her first roles was staring in 2010’s "Valentine's Day," opposite then-boyfriend Taylor Lautner. The year before that, Swift guest-starred in an episode of the ninth season of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”

The same episode also showcased her song “You’re Not Sorry” from her “Fearless” album, which was released the previous year.

She also starred in "The Giver" with Meryl Streep, and was featured in the film adaptation of the musical "Cats" alongside Judy Dench and Jennifer Hudson, although the film was poorly received by critics.

There is not currently much known about Swift's new role. The production is still currently untitled, and details concerning the film's plot are still under wraps. 

The film is rumored to be a “period piece” but no other details have been forthcoming, and 20th Century Studios has yet to announce a release date.

However, Swift is joining a high-profile cast, including Margot Robbie, Anna Taylor-Joy, Christian Bale, Rami Malek, Chris Rock, and Robert De Niro.

Fans were over the moon to hear about the "Lover" singer's new acting role, along with the rest of the A-list cast.

“TAYLOR SWIFT, ANYA TAYLOR-JOY AND MARGOT ROBBIE IN ONE MOVIE I CANT,” one fan wrote, while another added, “I can’t handle this rn.”

Another fan wrote, "margot robbie, anya taylor joy, CHRISTIAN BALE, AND TAYLOR SWIFT IN ONE MOVIE?" alongside a meme saying, "my satisfaction is immeasurable and my day is saved."

Yet another fan commented "anya, margot and taylor swift in the same movie" alongside an ad for McDonald's French fries, describing them as "Tall, blonde, and gorgeous."

Although Swift has many accolades to her name, it will be interesting to see if the accomplished Grammy-winner will eventually make the career switch from singing to acting.
