Sober Marcus Jordan Is Reeling Over The Deaths Of Ozzy & Hulk: 'Almost Had A Drink'

Marcus Jordan is having a rough week, but his resolve to stay away from drinking remains.

The former college basketball star broke his silence over the dual loss of two icons, Ozzy Osbourne and Hulk Hogan, who passed away just a few days apart, and how it affected him mentally.

Marcus Jordan is currently over 100 days strong on his sobriety journey after he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in February following a car accident.

The media personality took to his social media to touch on how his childhood icons' deaths left him feeling low and vulnerable to the point of indulging in one of his old habits. Marcus wrote:

"Caught a SERIOUS case of the 'f-ck it's' & almost had a drink…It was disheartening realizing how the 'fun' has been stripped from social media."

He emphasized the importance of spending time with loved ones, despite the fickle nature of life. Marcus reached out to his family following the news.

He added that social media was once a safe space for sharing unconventional thoughts, expressing opinions, andopenly learning from mistakes. Still, that privilege is almost extinct, causing people to bottle up emotions and fight silent battles.

"And luckily for me, I have plenty of friends and family who raised me right & love me? But my heart breaks for the people that aren't as fortunate," Marcus wrapped up his rant, proudly adding that he is now "107 Days Sober & Counting."

How The Media Personality Marked 40 Days Of Sobriety 

Before 107 came 40, and the NBA legend's son was elated to celebrate that milestone back in May, three months after his arrest in Florida. He has also embarked on a focused journey of fitness to support his sobriety, a journey he shares with his social media followers from time to time.

As shared by The New York Post, clips from the scene of his February arrest captured Marcus driving away from the cops and even using his affiliation with Michael Jordan to try and escape arrest. 

The former college athlete was eventually slammed with various charges after his arrest, including one felony count of ketamine possession, one misdemeanor count of DUI and property damage, and one count of resisting a law enforcement officer.

The 34-Year-Old's Attorney Asked That The Former Athlete Be Ordered Into Rehab

Marcus reportedly pled guilty to the charges and entered a plea deal with the help of his attorney. His lawyer also acknowledged that his client required professional help to get over his lifestyle of alcohol and substance abuse.

The attorney pleaded with the court to allow him to be permitted admission into a substance abuse program to assist his condition. 

The former athlete's attorney stressed that his participation in the Pre-Trial Substance Abuse Education and Treatment Intervention Program will not only benefit him personally but also serve the community by reducing the likelihood of future offenses."

Marcus, through his attorney, expressed his willingness to become a responsible, productive, and sober member of society. He was subsequently released from custody on a $4,000 bond.

Inside Marcus' Childhood And Romantic Life

The 34-year-old is Michael Jordan, and his first wife, Juanita Vanoy's, second son, who was born two years after his big brother, Jeffrey Jordan, in 1988.

As noted by PEOPLE, Marcus followed in his father's footsteps by playing basketball in high school and college as he advanced. The NBA veteran's second son played on the University of Central Florida's basketball team for three years before graduating in 2013.

The hospitality management graduate has maintained a relatively low-key life till his widely publicized relationship with Scottie Pippen's ex-wife, Larsa Pippen. While they initially denied it, they went Instagram official in 2023 and parted ways after a series of turbulence in 2024.

Marcus is the second of five siblings, with two from his mom, Juanita, and two from his stepmother, Yvette Prietto.

Marcus Jordan is Presently Awaiting Trial

Last month was a significant point in Marcus’s DUI case as his attorney was granted an extension after he filed a motion to get a stay till September. As reported by The Blast, the motion was to allow them to sort out negotiations with prosecutors and possibly get a resolution. 

Marcus reportedly had a moment of sober reflection when he was arrested, realizing that his connection to the greatest basketballer in history would not save him from facing the consequences of his actions.

As for the demise of his relationship with Larsa, the former reality star confessed that the publicity surrounding them as a couple drained her mentally and psychologically when they finally parted ways. She has now moved on with former basketball player, Jeff Coby.
