Former 'E! News' Host Lilliana Vazquez Has Choice Words For The Network After Revealing The Show Was Axed

“I can talk about this because I was the former host of 'E! News.' No, I'm not surprised,” Vazquez said in her video.

“I keep getting this question sent to me via DM and text. Everyone is going crazy being like, ‘Oh my God. Are you shocked?’ No, of course, I'm not shocked that 'E! News' was canceled after 34 years. I'm surprised it's still on the air as of yesterday," she continued, adding that "the writing was on the wall" long before the network pulled the plug.

Later, in the five-minute video, Vazquez broke down why she believed "E! News" was no longer commanding the views it once did.

“The reason that 'E! News' didn't work in a taped format is number one — it's far too edited for today's consumption,” she said, explaining that when she wants to get the rundown on celebrity news, she runs to TikTok or Instagram.

"[I can] get real live hot takes in the moment that are reactive to what is happening when it comes to entertainment news, by the time a story gets put on 'E! News' at 11:30pm at night, the story is dead," she added.

Vazquez, who noted she was the show's shortest-tenured anchor, argued that today's audiences aren't interested in a "watered-down version" of the news.

She also stated that having "an authentic, fair version of entertainment news" wasn't possible while she was working for "E! News."

“There were so many touch points to every story that went on air, and I'm not saying that we didn't try our best as host or as producers to get you the most factual, accurate representation of that story, but there were puppeteers behind the scenes," Vazquez noted.

“All this to say — No, I am not surprised. Am I sad? Yes, because this show cancellation means that hundreds of people have lost their jobs,” she continued. “Anyway, that's my opinion, I'm probably gonna get in trouble for it but whatever. Who cares? I don't work there anymore.”

In the comment section of Vazquez's TikTok, several users chimed in, agreeing with the TV personality's take on the show's cancellation.

"This is 1000 percent correct," someone wrote. "The curtain has fallen between PR and media. Social media has become the new source of information [because] it's accessible and authentic. Not always honest, but definitely more authentic."

Another user clearly agreed, writing, "We get our entertainment news on social media! Who watches TV anymore?!"

A third posted, "It's antiquated [and] people don't care about celebs anymore."

"'E! News' problem is it isn't timely," another quipped. "I remember when crazy celeb news would drop randomly during the day, and they wouldn't go live and cover it. Bad choice when everyone is searching for in the moment coverage."

Vazquez isn't the only former "E! News" anchor to react after the network shelved the series.

In a contrasting tribute, Giuliana Rancic, one of the series' most iconic faces, shared an emotional post on Instagram, calling the show her "second home" for "20 years."

"As the show comes to an end, I feel so fortunate to have been a part of this pop culture phenomenon that aired in over 100 countries and allowed me to travel around the globe meeting the most amazing and loyal viewers," she captioned her post.

Rancic continued, "Thank you to every single one of you for letting us into your homes every night. Anchoring 'E! News' was my dream job and the professional honor of a lifetime."

The TV personality finished, "#endofanera."
