Back on September 7, 2018, the world was stunned to hear that Mac Miller, had suddenly passed away at the very young age of 26. This was due to an apparent drug overdose at his San Fernando Valley home. He was found around noon in his bedroom as he was soon pronounced dead at the scene. A 911 call was made from a friend at the time, as he said that Mac had suffered from being in cardiac arrest. A coroner was also called to the home.

The types of drugs that were used to cause Mac’s death were later revealed, as they were counterfeit oxycodone laced with fentanyl. These were obtained by three local drug dealers in the area, as they went on to be hit with drug distribution charges from federal authorities. US Attorney, Nick Hanna, came out and said that these individuals continued to sell drugs, knowing how severe they were.

“These defendants allegedly continued to sell narcotics after Mr. McCormick’s death with full knowledge of the risks their products posed to human life,” Hanna explained.

The drug dealers revealed to be involved in distributing these items to Mac ended up being Cameron James Pettit, 28, Stephen Andrew Walter, 46, and Ryan Michael Reavis, 36. Now, after years of postponed dates for a trial, one is finally set for this fall. This will be on November 16, according to REVOLT. Two years ago, they ended up being charged with providing Mac with cocaine, oxycodone and Xanax. Walter gave the pills to Pettit and then, used Reavis as a runner.

“It has become increasingly common for us to see drug dealers peddling counterfeit pharmaceuticals made with fentanyl. As a consequence, fentanyl is now the No. 1 cause of overdose deaths in the United States,” Hanna added.

With Reavis, Pettit and Walter all continuing to sell these drugs, authorities were able to find them soon. Pettit was arrested in the fall of 2019 and was in jail with no bond. Reavis’ Lake Havasu, Arizona home, was raided and prescription pills, guns and ammunition were found. Walter ended up being arrested in Los Angeles on the same day as that drug bust.

Mac’s fans ended up rejoicing in being able to celebrate his life, as his first posthumous album, “Circles,” was released in January 2020. This would go on to be his final album as well. Circles debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 chart and has since been certified gold by the RIAA in the US. This project was led by singles such as “Good News” and “Blue World.” A month before Mac passed away, he put out his “Swimming” album, which also debuted at number three and is platinum.
