The Tea app quietly launched back in 2023 but recently went viral with more than 1 million women signing up in just a few days. Only women are allowed to sign up and users must be approved, which sometimes can take days. A selfie is used to ensure that the person signing up is a woman, and once verified, the piping hot tea spilling begins.

So, what exactly is the Tea app all about? The concept is similar to the group "Are We Dating the Same Guy" on Facebook. Users can post photos of men and either spill the tea on what they know or ask other women to share any information they have. Users can also add a green flag or a red flag to each man's photo.

While it started out with the intention of saving women from toxic men, it seems to have taken on a life of its own and many are concerned.

The Tea App Has Everyone Talking On TikTok

Viral TikToker, Noah Glenn Carter, shared a video explaining why "The Tea app is ruining men's lives."

"The way the Tea app works is women will leave either green or red flags for men that they've dated. Green being good, red being bad. They can also leave Yelp sort of reviews on these men as well," he explained. "A big problem with this app is the men posted to the app are basically all public against their will, while the women on the app can just remain anonymous if they want to."

Many men claim that they've had "false reviews" about them, and many are working hard to "debunk" what's been said on the app.

"And these false statements about men on the app have basically opened the Tea app up to some interesting legal ramifications," he continued. "There are currently a lot of lawyers gearing up for a big lawsuit against the app, because people on the app are essentially just spreading defamation in a lot of cases, really due to the fact that they can remain anonymous and say whatever they want about any man they want to."

'The Tea App Is Ruining Marriages'

Not long after sharing the video about the Tea app, Carter shared a second video that talks about how the app is "ruining marriages."

"There's reports coming in saying that some girls are posting married men in their towns on the Tea app," Carter shared. "Now the reason for this is they're trying to make it seem like those men are actively dating to destroy their marriage and their relationship."

He further explained that some are also posting their exes, whether they are in a relationship or not, and writing a bad false review, "simply because they are upset that the relationship is over."

Carter also said that some are even writing false reviews on men they've never even met "just for the fun of it."

Another TikToker Shared More Information About The App

A TikToker who goes by @everybodyhatekrissy shared some insider information about the viral app that everyone's talking about.

"Everybody is talking about the new app for women to find out about the men in their area and see whether or not they hold red or green flags," she said in her video spilling the tea on Tea. "I've seen so much tea spilled already."

She went into detail about the app and said you cannot "screenshot on the app at all." She showed a photo of the app's safety tools, which lists things such as "run background checks," "check criminal records," reverse the image search" and more.

"So, my best friend Savannah, she went on the Tea app yesterday. She said you can only put in somebody's first name. There's no last name, and if you don't know the guy's name, you could try to put in the nickname or what they're known by, but you can put the city and the picture up," she explained. "Everything is anonymous, screenshots are impossible, all women are verified."
