On "The View," Joy Behar seemingly slipped up as she mentioned the show would be going on a summer hiatus amid renewed calls for its cancellation.
The announcement followed backlash over her claim that Trump is jealous of Obama, prompting the White House to call her an “irrelevant loser.”
Despite criticism, "The View's" ratings remain strong, ranking No. 1 among daytime talk shows for five consecutive seasons.
Joy Behar Announces 'The View' Hiatus Amid Fresh Political Backlash

During Thursday’s episode of “The View,” co-host Behar casually revealed that the daytime talk show is heading into a break, just a day after renewed political pressure called for its cancellation.
“Before we go on hiatus, we only have one more show after this,” said the 82-year-old comedian, glancing off-camera and adding, “I'm allowed to say that, right?”
Her remark sparked laughter as co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin quipped, “Too late now!”
Later, Whoopi Goldberg confirmed that “The View” will return in September, marking the start of its next season.
According to the Daily Mail, a source close to production, the hiatus is part of the show’s regular summer break, an annual pause that follows their brief Fourth of July time-off earlier this month.
Behar’s announcement came on the heels of a fresh wave of political backlash aimed at the show.
Just one day earlier, a White House spokesperson publicly lashed out at her over her claims about Donald Trump. The famous comedian seemed to anger the president by saying he is “jealous” of former President Barack Obama.
White House Slams Joy Behar As An 'Irrelevant Loser,’ But 'The View’ Claps Back With Ratings Receipts

In a sharp statement to Entertainment Weekly, White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said, “Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome," while also alleging that the show’s ratings have plummeted in recent years.
“It's no surprise that 'The View's ratings hit an all-time low last year,” Rogers noted. “[Behar] should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump's historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air.”
However, a representative for "The View" firmly pushed back on the ratings claim.
In a statement, they pointed out that the show “is up in total viewers and women 18-49, versus the comparable weeks last season, to its most-watched in four years.”
They also noted that "season to date, 'The View' is ranking No. 1 in households and total viewers among all network daytime talk shows and news programs for the fifth straight season."
Joy Behar Blasts Trump Over His Obama Comments: ‘It’s Driving Him Crazy’

Behar’s recent remarks on “The View” stemmed from former President Trump’s latest attack on Obama, claiming the former president should be prosecuted for “treason” over what Trump continues to call the Russian “hoax” aimed at taking him down.
Firing back during Wednesday’s episode, Behar said, “First of all, who tried to overthrow the government on Jan. 6? Who was that again? That was not Obama.”
She went on to claim Trump is driven by envy, adding, “The thing about him is he's so jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything that he is not: Trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green's song ‘Let's Stay Together’ better than Al Green. And Trump cannot stand it. It's driving him crazy.”
Later in the episode, Behar suggested that Obama should consider suing Trump. Co-host and legal expert Sunny Hostin echoed her co-star’s sentiment, saying, "I agree with you on that. Obama still lives rent-free in his head. I think Michelle Obama still lives rent-free in his head, I think the fact that Malia graduated from Harvard still lives rent-free in his head, and it's just the very swag that Obama has that he will never have."
‘The Tide Is Turning’: Joy Behar Says MAGA Loyalists Are Turning On Trump Over Epstein Files

On Thursday’s episode of “The View,” Behar addressed the growing backlash Trump is facing from within his own base, particularly over his response to the release of the Epstein files.
According to the famous comedian, “the tide is turning" in the U.S. political scene.
“The tide is turning, the tide is turning,” she repeated, referencing a noticeable shift among MAGA loyalists who are now publicly criticizing Trump’s dismissive stance on the Epstein case.
“I mean, the ultimate irony,” Behar continued, “would be that Rupert Murdoch will take him down. Fox News, who created the monster, will take him down.”

She went on to name several prominent right-wing figures who have recently distanced themselves from Trump over the controversy: “Marjorie Taylor Green said that she doesn’t accept Trump’s handling of the Epstein case…Tucker Carlson, Steven Bannon, Charlie Kirk, Joe Rogan, even the Q Anon Shaman are now calling him a fraud and a piece of whatever.”
“Prior to this,” she noted, “they've been, you know, very much in acquiescence to the guy, but now that is changing, and I feel positive about it. And optimistic.”
She concluded, “Now that is interesting to me, and worth watching the news now because I want to see how this all plays out.”
