Donald Trump’s latest decision towards the LGBTQ+ community has stepped on a lot of toes, and actor Jim Parsons is not letting it slide.
The “Big Bang Theory” star, who is married to Todd Spiewak, blasted the president for ending the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline option offering counselors to LGBTQ+ members.
The Trump administration shut down the lifeline on July 17, and now, Parsons has criticized how it endangers the gay community.
Jim Parsons Calls Donald Trump’s Removal of Suicide Lifeline ‘Criminal’

In a recent appearance on MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” the “Home” star openly showed his displeasure with the government over its treatment of the LGBTQ+ community.
"I think it's quite literally criminal," Parsons said, adding that the decision was biased. "It's one of the kinds of decisions that you're like, 'There's no good reason for it. It doesn't matter what reason you ever put towards it or say it's the reason it's happening, it's never going to be justified."
The 52-year-old actor continued pointing out how the decision was intended to hurt the gay community.
He stated, "It is only hurtful, and it feels like it's only being done in order to make a point; we're getting rid of this because we want to make sure certain people understand they are not welcome here."
Fans Join Jim Parsons In Blasting Donald Trump
The actor was not alone in criticizing Trump, as his fans joined in, calling out the administration. One user penned a lengthy paragraph praising the actor while condemning the new policy.
The fan wrote, “Powerfully said by Jim Parsons. Stripping away vital mental health support for the LGBTQ+ community is not just cruel, it's dangerous. Every life matters, and access to help should never be politicized.”
A second user added, “Jim Parsons is a literal angel and he's RIGHT cause what the f--k is the point of removing that option besides wanting LGBT suicide rate to spike.”
Two other admirers referenced the actor’s character in the CBS series and applauded the actor for standing up to the government. One individual remarked, “Good to know that Sheldon Cooper is an ally in these trying times.” Another user chimed in, “And this is why Jim Parsons is the best part of 'The Big Bang Theory'!!”
A Look Into ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Actor’s Marriage

Parson’s outspoken criticism of Trump’s bias against the gay community is unsurprising given that he and his husband are active LGBTQ advocates. The “Hidden Figures” star and Spiewak tied the knot in 2017 with a ceremony at the Rainbow Room in New York.
The couple initially met on a blind date in 2002, and after several dates, they made their relationship public in 2012. “The Normal Heart” actor previously opened up about their first date, calling it an unforgettable experience.
He told PEOPLE Magazine, “I’ll never forget that late fall into the holidays when we spent so much time together just falling more in love. Every time there's that smell when the air gets cold in New York, it always reminds me.”
Former President Barack Obama Urged Men To Have Gay Friends

Parson's criticism of Trump comes after Barack Obama's advice for young men to have diverse friend groups.
While the new government makes decisions perceived as harmful to the LGBTQ+ community, the former president has encouraged men to befriend gay people.
Obama shared his thoughts on the importance of having gay friends during a conversation with his wife, Michelle Obama on her podcast.
The former politician expressed that his views were shaped by his gay professor and advised men raising boys to befriend gay men. He said, "You need that person in your friend group so that if you then have a boy who is gay or nonbinary, or what have you, they have somebody that they can go, 'Okay, I'm not alone in this.”
Barack Obama Made History Endorsing Same-Sex Marriage In The U.S.

During Obama’s time in office as POTUS, he became the first sitting president to publicly encourage same-sex marriage.
He later explained that his stance was built after personal interactions with his staff members and soldiers who had monogamous relationships.
Obama admitted that he realized that the soldiers who risked their lives for the country felt constrained because of their sexual orientation. In 2015, the Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage was legal.
