A tragic home invasion has rocked the entertainment community after longtime "American Idol" music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, musician Thomas Deluca, were found shot to death in their $4.5 million Encino, California, home on July 14.

Now, new details claim the suspect, 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian, allegedly used the "American Idol" exec's own gun to carry out the fatal shooting.

Kaye and Deluca, both 70, were discovered in separate rooms, Deluca in the bathroom and Kaye in the pantry, with gunshot wounds to the head.

First responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the couple dead at the scene. Authorities said a shattered glass sliding door and a trail of blood led officers into the "American Idol" exec's home, which they entered while conducting a welfare check after friends reported not hearing from the couple.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney, Nathan Hochman, the suspect reportedly broke into the home, found a firearm inside, and used it to shoot the couple after they returned home and confronted him. At a town hall meeting on July 21, Hochman confirmed that Boodarian then used his own phone to call the police and gave them his name, which helped investigators track him down.

Four days before the bodies were discovered, LAPD officers responded to a burglary call at the same address but left after finding no signs of forced entry. Authorities now believe Kaye and Deluca may have already been dead (or dying) during that initial visit.

Suspect Had Troubling History Of Violence, Mental Health Concerns

While there is no known connection to the victims, Raymond Boodarian does have a documented history of violent behavior and mental health issues, according to court records.

In 2023, Boodarian faced misdemeanor charges for allegedly brandishing a knife and making criminal threats against his stepfather. The following year, he was charged with battery against both his mother and sister. However, all three cases were ultimately dismissed in late 2023 after Boodarian was found mentally incompetent to stand trial.

According to NBC Los Angeles, a court-ordered mental health evaluation led to Boodarian being placed under a conservatorship, granting another adult the authority to make decisions regarding his major life affairs. Though the specifics of the evaluation were not made public, records show that Boodarian was released from jail following the decision.
