Ellen DeGeneres has plans to explore a new career path after her famous talk show ended on a bad note.
The 67-year-old comedian's long-running talk show, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," concluded in 2022 after facing allegations of fostering a toxic work environment.
Following the end of the show, the producer made big changes to her life. DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, moved to the United Kingdom in the wake of Donald Trump's emergence as the President of the United States.
Settling down in the English countryside, the writer got busy taking care of her farm animals. Now, the comedian has hinted at getting back into work.
Ellen DeGeneres Is Thoughtfully Choosing A New Career Path

During a recent conversation with presenter Richard Bacon, the comedian expressed her desire to return to the talk show business, even though she had already closed that chapter.
DeGeneres explained, "I mean, I wish it [the talk show format worked], because I would do the same thing here [in the UK]," per The Daily Mail.
Although the host wishes to do a talk show again, she feels that there is no audience for it. In her words:
"I would love to do that again, but I just feel like people are watching on their phones, or people aren't really paying attention as much to televisions, because we're so inundated with information and entertainment."
However, the TV host wants to explore other jobs that do not involve managing farm animals.
"[I'll pick my next career move] very carefully. I just don't know what that is yet," she shared. "I want to have fun, I want to do something. I do like my chickens, but l'm a little bit bored."
Ellen DeGeneres Addresses Allegations About Her Talk Show

The actress further reflected on her time on television, addressing allegations of a toxic work atmosphere. DeGeneres cleared misconceptions about her personality, saying, "It's as simple as I'm a direct person, and I'm very blunt, and I guess sometimes that means that... I'm mean?"
She continued, "How dare us [women] have any kind of mood, or you can't be anything other than nice and sweet and kind and submissive and complacent."
Although DeGeneres cleared the air about her behavior on screen, she believes the public already views her as "mean" and that won't change.
"I don't think I can say anything that's ever going to get rid of that [reputation] or dispel it, which is hurtful to me," she admitted.
The Comedian Talks About Remarrying Her Wife In The UK

While the comedian plots her next career move, her marital life will also experience a rebirth. She plans to get remarried in the UK if the US bans same sex marriage.
DeGeneres and De Rossi began discussing remarriage plans after the Southern Baptist Convention's vote in June to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges.
Elsewhere in the conversation, she told Bacon of her intention to protect her marriage amid growing backlash against same-sex marriage in the US.
"Portia and I are already looking into it, and if they do that, we're going to get married here," she shared.
Why Did Ellen DeGeneres Flee The US?

Meanwhile, DeGeneres, who has spent over six months living in the United Kingdom, finally revealed what fueled her relocation.
After much speculation, the former TV host confessed that Trump's victory in the last elections solidified her decision to remain in England.
DeGeneres recalled that she was already in the UK during the 2024 US elections, but when she heard the results, she made up her mind never to return to the US.
"We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis. And I was like, 'He got in,' And we're like, 'We're staying here,'" she recounted.
The Host Took A Final Bow From Television In 2024

The talk show host's new career choice may have nothing to do with television, as she previously stated she is leaving the screens for good.
As reported by The Blast, DeGeneres ended her television career with a tour titled "Ellen's Last Stand… Up," where she informed fans that she was ending her time on stage.
When one fan asked if the star was going to do a Broadway show, she replied, "Um, no. This is the last time you're going to see me. After my Netflix special, I'm done."
