Kate Beckinsale Is 'Paralysed' With Grief After Parents' Death 18-Months Apart

Kate Beckinsale has once again suffered a crushing blow!

The actress took to social media to inform her fans and loved ones that her mother passed away in her arms a few days ago after a long battle with an illness.

Kate Beckinsale's mother, Judy Loe, passed away nearly two years after her stepfather's death in January 2024. The actress had lost her actual father when she was just five years old.

The English actress shared a touching post to confirm that her mother, Judy Loe, had indeed passed away, noting that it had become imperative for her to announce it before the press did. She began the post with a strong affirmation that it was not her first choice to make the death public, but it had to be done. 

The actress informed her followers that she could not bring herself to search her mother's phone, hence they would have to make do with the photos and videos she had posted. She also apologized to Judy's friends, who would now have to find out her mother is no more via her announcement. Kate declared:

"I am paralysed. Jude was the compass of my life, the love of my life, my dearest friend. The vastness and huge heart of this tiny woman has touched so many people who love her dearly."

She commended her late mother for exhibiting bravery in so many ways, such as "forgiving sometimes too much, believing in the ultimate good in people."  

The actress concluded her post by expressing her intense love for Judy and affirming that losing her has been her greatest fear since finding out she lost her biological dad at the tender age of five. "Oh my Mama.. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I am so sorry," she wrote.

Richard Beckinsale reportedly died from an undisclosed coronary artery disease, which caused a heart attack in his sleep. As shared by Daily Mail, Roe was not at home when he died because she was undergoing a crucial reproductive surgery at the hospital.

It was after the successful operation, where doctors unblocked her fallopian tubes so she could have more children, that she learned of Richard's shocking passing.

The late actor had reportedly taken a five-year-old Kate to see her mom at the clinic the day before the surgery, where he complained of mild fatigue. He also mentioned a pain in his arms and chest to his friends before he went to bed, to never wake again.

For Kate, who was away at a family friend's home at the time of Richard's death, discovering Richard's dead body was the most traumatizing part of it.

"Finding my father's dead body alone in the middle of the night at the age of five shaped my entire life. Seeing my beloved stepfather die a year ago today will haunt me forever," she revealed in her tribute to her stepfather following his passing.

Kate's stepfather, Roy Battersby, came into her life three years after Richard died and remained a father figure in her life till he passed away last January.

"It does seem terribly careless to have managed to be present for both deaths and unable to prevent either, the second time trying with every single thing I had. It was not enough," Kate declared at the time.

Until their deaths, PEOPLE confirmed that Kate remained the only child of the two TV stars who tied the knot in 1977 and raised her in the Chiswick district of London.

Due to her parents' fame in the movie industry, the actress made her early TV debut at the age of 4. She reportedly starred in "This is Your Life" as a guest, whom, according to her, no one knew.

Her father, Richard, built a brand for himself as a TV star who started his career as a police officer in "Coronation Street" before going on to appear in other productions, such as the BBC's "Porridge and Rising Damp."

Kate's mom made her mark as an actress in the original cast of the musical "Hair." She debuted as a TV star in 1970, starring in "Ace of Wands." Richard died in 1979, and Kate moved on with Roy, a TV director, in 1997. On her relationship with her stepdad, Kate said:

"I really lucked out with him. He's the best. We had some rough years getting adjusted, but no one's been a bigger champion. I really do feel lucky."

Kate shared a very close relationship with her mom, as her dad was unfortunately not around for long as she grew. She celebrated various milestones in her mom's life on social media, including her birthday in 2023 and Mother's Day in the same year.

Watching Roy die and Judy fight for her life with cancer last year left the actress in a bad shape, health-wise. She responded to a comment about her physique that the stress got to her, and she had to be hospitalized for over a month. In her words:

"I was in the hospital for six weeks because the grief had burned a hole in my oesophagus, which made me vomit copious amounts of blood, and I found eating very hard."

She added that the movie she was working on then also impacted her health mentally, because the theme revolved around death and loss. Kate did not spare the troll who had something to say about her derrière.

She stated that she would not be paying attention to any comments about her figure, adding, "Maybe you should worry about your own f-cking -ss. I suggest shoving something up like a large pineapple or a brick."

Judy was right there as her daughter fought her way through the stress and bleeding. The actress shared news of her hospitalization with her online fans in an emotional post.

As shared by The Blast, she posed on the bed while her mother and her dogs surrounded her in the room to provide support. She praised her mother for being a pillar by her side all through her health ordeal, despite battling cancer herself.

"Happy birthday and UK Mother's Day this last week to my incredible mother. Thank you to those who love us and support us when it's sh-t and try to make sure some bits aren't," she declared.

She, however, refused to disclose the reason behind her hospitalization in the post, sparking speculation among her fans.

Kate Beckinsale's mom will undoubtedly be sorely missed by her loved ones!
