Caitlin Clark Announced She Will Not Be Participating In The WNBA All-Star Game Or 3-Point Contest

On Thursday morning, ESPN and ESPNW shared the news on Instagram that Clark is out for All-Star Weekend events and game.

"I'm so excited for Indy to host WNBA All-Star this weekend. I want to thank the Indianapolis Host Committee and all the people that have put endless work in over the past year to put this event together. I know this will be the best All-Star yet," Clark shared before explaining why she won't be participating.

Special Rules For The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game

This year's game will feature some new rules intended to increase scoring and speed the game up.

Four circles, two on each side of the court, will be the designated zone for 4-point shots. These circles are 28 feet from the rim and six feet beyond the WNBA 3-point arc. To make the 4-pointers even sweeter, AT&T will make a donation to foundations supported by the WNBA for each successful 4-pointer made.

This year will also introduce a 20-second shot clock, shortened from the usual 24 seconds.

There will be no free throws for this game. Instead of going to the foul line, players will be credited the maximum available points in circumstances that would normally send a player to shoot free throws.

You'll also notice that teams with possession will be allowed to make hockey-like substitutions where one player exits the court and another enters during live play.
