How Caitlyn Jenner Is Helping Late Pal Sophia Hutchins' Family

Caitlyn Jenner is not leaving Sophia Hutchins' mom to go through the dark hours alone!

The retired Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete is being every inch a true friend to her late employee by offering her mom a place to grieve the loss of her daughter properly.

Caitlyn Jenner's friend and assistant reportedly passed away earlier in the month after her ATV plummeted into a cliff following contact with another vehicle on her way to the star's home.

The trans activist has now offered her assistant's family a comfortable home to settle as she gets used to life without the 29-year-old. The star was also spotted out with Sophia's mom shortly after her death.

Sophia, before her passing, also moved in with Caitlyn when she began working for her after she came out as transgender about a decade ago.

She and Caitlyn bonded over the latter's courage to fiercely embrace her sexuality on such a public platform, and since then, they have remained inseparable. Sophia even appeared on Caitlyn's spin-off series "I Am Cait" from "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."

The 29-year-old was also introduced to several members of Caitlyn's family, including Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian. As reported by The Daily Mail, Sophia notably modeled for Kim's shapewear brand, SKIMS, in 2020.

Caitlyn's closeness with her assistant soon fueled speculations that the duo were in something more profound than a platonic friendship. Sophia was not a stranger to these reports, and she clarified it the best way she could, noting:

"Caitlyn is a parent to me. I have said that a million times. It is a parental, familial relationship."

She also told a news outlet at one point that she owed no one any detail about her sex life, and her staying under her boss's roof does not mean anything other than a professional relationship was happening.

The late Sophia and Caitlyn also accompanied each other to various high-profile events, including their last being the April 2024 White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, DC.

Sophia started living with Caitlyn in 2017 and took over the role of her manager from Kris Jenner, Caitlyn's ex-wife, who finalized her divorce from Caitlyn at the time.

In a report by The Blast, Caitlyn's assistant was reportedly driving near her boss's house when she rear-ended a moving vehicle, causing her car to swerve off the road and plunge 350 feet down a cliff.

She was reportedly traveling at a relatively high speed in her 2013 Polaris ATV when she collided with the Mazda, which was carrying two passengers. The passengers in the vehicle that Sophia hit came out unhurt.

Unfortunately for Sophia, she could not survive the fall and was pronounced dead on the spot as soon as emergency services arrived at the scene of the auto-crash.

Caitlyn has yet to react to the accident publicly, and when the press spotted her in public the next day, the former reality star was unwilling to address the incident.

Before 2024 rounded up, Caitlyn had a critical mission on her bucket list, which she intended to achieve through her cordiality with Kim. 

The Blast shared that the SKIMS founder wished her a happy birthday last year, and Caitlyn reportedly planned to capitalize on the goodwill to extend an olive branch to the rest of the family.

It is no secret that tension has existed between the Kar-Jenner clan and Caitlyn since her involvement in the “House of Kardashian” documentary.

An insider noted that Caitlyn pleaded with the entrepreneur to open a line of communication between her and Kris Jenner to regain the family’s good graces.

The republican reportedly understands that unless Kris approves her entry back into the family, she stands no chance. She also knows that Kim is the only one experienced enough to handle the issue with Kris.

While the former Olympic medalist is living her best life and true self as a transwoman, she cannot help but wish some things about her transition had played out differently, especially how Kris found out.

In the documentary, Caitlyn revealed that the momager heard about her transition through E! network executives rather than directly from her. 

The situation left a deep cut in the former athlete’s heart, and now she wished she could rewrite the story all over again. Caitlyn reportedly considers Kris the one true love of Bruce and would love for them to remain friends for old times’ sake.

The father-of-six now understands that their divorce at the time had nothing to do with her transition, and she should have carried Kris along on the journey.
