Cody Simpson Breaks Silence On Miley Cyrus Relationship

Cody Simpson has broken his silence on dating Miley Cyrus. The 24-year-old singer and swimming sensation, last year ending a 10-month romance with the 28-year-old "Prisoner" songstress, has spoken out on an episode of Australian "60 Minutes," opening up on dating the former "Hannah Montana" star and on their August 2020 breakup. Cody wound up getting asked what he was "thinking" by dating someone as high-profile as Miley. He also called the split "amicable." Scroll for details of the interview below.

Scroll for photos. Cody, who has also dated model Gigi Hadid and reality star Kylie Jenner, revealed: "I'd known her for a long time at that point," adding: "Not like a mentor but always a very hyper-creative person."

"We went from being good friends, to just having a lot of the same friends, to being together for a while," he continued. "Everything ended fairly amicably, and it was just one of those phases, I guess. You go through [it] and you learn a lot from it."

Miley had made headlines for seemingly being a on a whirlwind romance with the Aussie, this in the wake of her split from "The Hunger Games" actor husband Liam Hemsworth. Miley also briefly dated blogger Kaitlynn Carter before she commenced her relationship with Cody. Last summer, she announced their split.

"So today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up. It was confirmed by a 'reliable source' even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the two individuals that are participating in it," she wrote. More below.

Cyrus, who remains single, added: "But, for right now, two halves can't make a whole and we're individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be," continuing:

"Like everybody else at this age, we're just deciding who we wanna be with our lives, what we wanna do with our lives. And so, don't make it some drama story if next week we're out hanging out or getting pizza. We've been friends for 10 years and we're gonna continue to be friends." More photos below.

Miley has three failed relationships in two years now under her belt. The "Plastic Hearts" hit-maker, experimenting with women as she dated Carter for a few brief months, has been opening up on other aspects of sexuality and sexual embracement - she revealed decorating her home with sex toys not too long ago.
