Sad Reason Why Prince Harry Is Looking To Reunite With King Charles: He Will Be 'Riddled With Guilt'

Prince Harry's senior aides recently met with King Charles' top royal aides, sparking speculations that the feuding father and son have begun work to mend their broken relationship.

Royal experts have, however, weighed in on what the meeting truly means for Harry and why he's all of a sudden ready to reunite with the monarch.

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are also said to be "frustrated" as photos of the "peace talks" were plastered all over the news, with an insider claiming the couple isn't responsible for the leak.

When reports of a secret London "peace summit" between senior aides of King Charles and Prince Harry emerged last week, it sparked hopes that a long-awaited reconciliation between father and son was finally taking place.

The private talks took place at the Royal Over-Seas League, a private club in London known for fostering international understanding, and saw Harry's chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, talk over drinks with King Charles' communications secretary, Tobyn Andreae. Liam Maguire, who manages the Sussexes' UK public relations, was also in attendance.

Although details about the meeting have been kept under wraps, royal experts are now speculating that the Duke of Sussex wants to quickly fix things with his cancer-stricken father before it's too late.

Author and friend of the royal family, Hugo Vickers, said that Harry would feel "riddled with guilt" if he never saw his dad again, amid Charles' continued battle with cancer.

"The ball is in Harry's court. He is the one who has to apologize and beg for forgiveness, and not the other way around," Vickers told Page Six.

Harry has not seen his father for more than a year now and was only granted a 30-minute audience when he made a frantic dash across the pond to see him upon learning of his cancer diagnosis in February of last year.

Their relationship was especially strained after he and Meghan left their royal roles in 2020 and relocated abroad, where they then made several disturbing allegations against the royal family in interviews and memoirs.

Back in May, the Duke told the BBC that he "would love a reconciliation" with the royal family and was "devastated" at losing a legal challenge over his security in the UK.

He also revealed that King Charles "won't speak to [him] because of this security stuff," but added that he did not want to fight anymore and did "not know how much longer my father has."

Amid talks of a potential reunion, it is unlikely the father-of-two would pick up from where he left off with the royal family in 2020, especially with the way things have changed.

King Charles was particularly hurt as Harry took aim at his wife, Queen Camilla, accusing her of leaking private information to the press to make herself look good.

He also slammed members of the family for "getting into bed with the devil," particularly mentioning how Camilla did all she could to clean up her public image following a years-long affair with the king.

His police protection has since been withdrawn, meaning Harry now has to pay for security from his pocket when he's in the country.

This and more is why Vickers explained that it's unlikely for him to return to royal duties should the king accept his apologies.

"[The staff] may well have just been discussing routine things, which is more than likely, but at some point, you have got to reconcile," Vickers said, per Page Six. "I don't think we'll see Harry returning to royal duties, but on a personal level, it will be good if he's able to get on terms with his father."

Meanwhile, it's very likely that Charles is ready to welcome his exiled son with open arms like the proverbial prodigal son.

Although it remains unknown if it was Charles or Harry who instigated the peace summit, the British monarch supposedly backed the talks, with a source close to Charles hailing it as a "significant moment" that could repair the relationship with his son.

A source told The Mirror: "The King has consistently shown he loves both his sons and, as he has done in the past, is prepared to meet Harry when their diaries allow."

"It's not unusual for aides from different households to meet, especially when there is a new influx of staff starting, but this is a significant moment," the insider added. "If there is a period of calm and reflection on the part of the duke, then there'll be a way forward for him to begin along the road of repairing his relationship with his father."

According to the Daily Mail, an insider revealed that the meeting between the aides was the first step in the "rapprochement process," following years of estrangement from the monarchy.

"There's a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in years," the source said. "There was no formal agenda, just casual drinks. There were things both sides wanted to talk about."

"Everyone just wants to move on and move forward now. It was finally the right time for the two sides to talk," they added.
