After the jaw-dropping Season 5 finale, Piglet has finally been crowned champion and unmasked as Nick Lachey, an American actor, singer, TV personality, and host. 

He was the lead singer of the boyband 98 Degrees and currently hosts the Netflix hit, “Love Is Blind” with his wife Vanessa Lachey. He has 836 thousand followers on Instagram. 

After his unmasking, he told the judging panel that he decided to do “The Masked Singer” because he missed singing and performing on the stage. 

“My kids wanted me to do this show for so long,” he said. “So I’m so excited. They have no idea that I’ve done this.” 

Although Lachey, 47, decided to do the show for his kids, it turns out they knew the whole time! 

After the first episode, his children Camden, 8, Brooklyn, 6, and Phoenix, 4, were able to figure out his identity. 

“My kids watched. They guessed it the first day and said, ‘Oh, that’s daddy!’ I was excited they knew it was me, but that surprise was gone really early,” Lachey admitted. 

“I’m excited for my grandma to see it! She called my mom saying she heard Nick is on ‘the masked show,’ so my grandma is watching it thinking it might be me, but hasn’t confirmed. So it’s going to be fun when my grandma sees it’s me. She gets such a kick out of seeing me on TV.”

When it came to deciding what songs to perform on the show, Lachey actually gave all the credit to his wife. 

“She really played a huge part in the song selections,​​​ and I think she might be even a bigger lover of music than I am,” he admitted. 

“We would sit on the back porch, have a glass of wine and listen to songs after the kids were in bed and she helped me hone in and helped me pick some great stuff.”

Although many fans were able to recognize Lachey from his voice, his costume might have been the biggest clue of all. 

“I’m from Cincinnati, which is known as ‘Porkopolis,’ the city of the Flying Pig, and my production company is called Flying Pig Prods.,” Lachey joked. “So when they presented that to me as the first option I said, ‘hey this is a sign, I’m supposed to be the Piglet.’”

However, like many contestants, he found the costume to be difficult to perform in. 

Although he revealed that he had an ice vest on to keep him cool under the costume, it eventually had to go when it started to restrict his breathing. 

“That’s definitely the most challenging part of the show,” he revealed. “There was a point in the beginning where I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to do this. It was just really tough. You know what it feels like to sing and perform. And I was like this isn’t it, this is not performing right now. I’m proud of the fact that we were all able to work together to get to a point where I could go out there and do what I need to do.”
