The singer and actress, who was born in Grand Prairie, took to Instagram on Friday, July 11, to share a heartfelt message in the wake of the deadly disaster.

“So many are hurting and have lost everything, including loved ones, in my home state of Texas,” Gomez wrote in an Instagram Stories. “My heart breaks for those who have lost someone and anyone still missing. The people of Texas will need our help as they rebuild from this unfathomable disaster.”

Torrential rains and flash floods swept across parts of Texas during the first week of July, claiming the lives of more than 100 people, including 27 young girls and camp counselors at Camp Mystic, a summer camp located along the Guadalupe River.

“I’ll be donating to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund,” Gomez added. “If you are able, please consider doing the same. And, as the community mourns, please know mental health support is available.”

As of July 11, the death toll in Texas has risen to 121 following the catastrophic floods that swept through the state during the first week of July.
