"The Handmaid's Tale" just keeps getting better! After four seasons apart, June (Elisabeth Moss) was finally reunited with her long-lost friend, Moira (Samira Wiley).

However, June has spent the past several years struggling to survive in war-torn Gilead, while Moira and June's husband Luke (O-T Fagbenle) have been developing a friendship up in Canada.

In a recent interview, showrunner Bruce Miller teased how June's relationship with her old friend and husband might change through the end of the season.

Although Moira escaped Gilead in the show's first season, earlier episodes focused on Moira trying to come to terms with the trauma she endured as a handmaid.

“Both of them have been going through a journey of recovery and moving on after sexual trauma and the refugee experience when they joined together, that’s where you get to measure them against each other,” Miller shared

He continued, “They were so simpatico beforehand and they were able to talk about anything, [including] ‘I don’t think you should marry this boy.'”

So much has happened since the early seasons that fans might forget that Moira and Luke weren't always on the best of terms, especially once Moira learned that June and Luke’s relationship was born out of an affair.

However, now that they've been co-parenting June's daughter together in Canada, the two have formed a stronger bond, which might put them at odds with June.

“That relationship is so strong and so vital and so important to both of them and to see how they’re going to manage that going forward gives you a good idea of how [June’s] relationships with everybody, including [her husband] Luke, are going to change,” Miller revealed

In a separate interview, Fagbenle hinted that Luke will be challenged in ways he hasn't been before.

"Nobody gets out of Handmaid’s Tale unscathed. You know, all the characters are going through a terrible trauma, and I think Luke is no exception to that," Fagbenle shared.

"His wife and child are in mortal jeopardy, and so is his sanity, and we really get to see Luke be put through the wringer on this, in a completely different way than other seasons."

Luke might not be the only character experiencing some major growth this season.

Actor Sam Jaeger, who plays Mark Tuello, a representative of what remains of the U.S. government, has played a key role in the arrest of Commander Fred Waterford and his wife Serena, with whom Tuello has had a flirtatious relationship with since season 2.

Although now that Serena is revealed to be pregnant, Jaeger hints that Tuello might have a change of heart.

He teased, "By the time episode 9 came around, I thought ‘Oh, oh, that’s an interesting angle. I saw that. I knew he was capable of this, but I didn’t know that they would take this switch that he does.'"
