Jana Kramer Describes Marriage To Mike Caussin As An Addiction

Jana Kramer's personal life sounds like the lyrics of a country song. The actress/country music singer has endured two divorces, an abusive relationship, and a broken engagement. She assumed the third time would be the charm when she married NFL player Mike Caussin.

However, heartache would rear its ugly head again when Caussin cheated on Kramer. Despite attempts at saving their marriage, the 37-year-old mom of two made the decision to divorce her husband. The "One Tree Hill" actress is opening up about her painful split from her Caussin.

Kramer and Caussin started dating in the summer of 2014 after meeting on Twitter. However, shortly after going public with their relationship, the two split up. But the couple eventually reconciled and became engaged in December of that year. 

The two married on May 22, 2015. By January 2016, they became parents when Kramer gave birth to a daughter named Jolie. Seven months after Jolie's birth, the couple separated due to Caussin's infidelity. Caussin would enter rehab for sex addiction. Following his release, he and Kramer continued to work on their marriage.

To show their commitment, the couple renewed their wedding vows in December 2017. The couple would then celebrate the birth of their second child, son Jace in November 2018. Although, Kramer and Caussin were committed to saving their marriage, the couple had their struggles.

Kramer wasn't shy about discussing her marital problems. On her "Whine Down" podcast, Kramer and Caussin opened up about his battle with sex addiction. Jana admitted that because of Caussin's infidelity, she didn't know if she could "1000 percent" trust him.

The country crooner had every right to be suspicious. In 2019, an emotional Kramer revealed she found topless photos of a woman on her husband's phone, but Caussin maintained his innocence. Then in October 2020, Kramer received an Instagram DM alleging that her husband cheated on her again.

Despite their best attempts, Jana's trust issues along with Mike's infidelity eventually drove them apart. In April, Kramer filed for divorce from her husband of almost six years.

Filing for divorce was a difficult decision for Kramer. On the recent episode of "Whine Down," Kramer opened up about the divorce process with her friend Kathryn Woodard. Jana compared her marriage to that of an addiction. She said the day Mike was served with divorce papers felt "literally like a drug."

Kramer stayed in her room that day while Woodard served Mike with the documents. Jana said she didn't want to see her husband because if she did, she was afraid she'd take him back. "The addict in me was like, I wanted him so badly to come in that room and hold me and love me and tell me he's sorry and give me that hit. I needed it so bad," the singer recalled.

The past month has been an emotional one for Kramer, but the star is moving forward. Although, her marriage didn't work out, she's grateful that it blessed her with her two children. Kramer's main focus is on her kids, whom she has primary custody of.

To take her mind of her divorce, Kramer recently embarked on a girls trip to Miami. The vacation happened to coincide with what would've been her sixth wedding anniversary. Instead of feeling sad, Kramer expressed feeling joy, happiness, and freedom as she celebrated this new chapter of her life.
