Nikki Reed Was Nearly Killed While Paying Off Millions of Ian Somerhalder’s Debt!

‘Vampire Diaries’ star Ian Somerhalder was so deep in debt when he married ‘Twilight’ actress Nikki Reed that it nearly killed her!

Now, Ian is forever indebted (literally) to Nikki, and he sang her praises from the rooftops to honor her 33rd birthday.

On Friday, May 21st, Ian took to his Instagram to not only wish his wife a ‘Happy Birthday,’ but he also took the opportunity to tell fans how Nikki spent two years of her life just to pay off his eight-figure price tag of debt.

In a photo posted to his Instagram Ian wrote, “This mama. This human. I owe you such gratitude for it all. What many of you may not know is this woman is the reason I was actually able to build @brothersbondbourbon.”

Brother’s Bond Bourbon is the brand of Bourbon Ian co-started and co-owns with his former ‘Vampire Diaries’ co-star, Paul Wesley.

Ian went on to admit that he’s never talked about his personal debt that was upwards of one million dollars.

He continued the post writing, “I’ve never disclosed this publicly, but this woman worked selflessly for 2yrs to build me out of a terrible business situation I got myself into. Before Nik and I got together I built a company while shooting TVD that was important to me. I invested heavily, I made huge personal guarantees to banks. However due to greed and fraud within that company and fraudulent activities from our biggest customer, not to mention the temporary collapse of the oil and gas industry - I was left in an EIGHT- FIGURE hole. It was awful.”

Ian was forced to travel the world weekly in order to pay for monthly bank notes.

He then admitted that the stress from this debt landed him in the hospital four times in two years.

INSANE!

Nikki saw what was happening and decided that she would not allow her husband to ruin his body/mind/spirit and quote, “pulled up her bootstraps and got down in the trenches assembling a team to get to the negotiating table to find a way out.”

But wait, the story gets even more twisted!

Ian said that Nikki was nearly killed while working to pay off his debts. He didn’t go into further detail about what potentially would’ve killed her, but we are happy she is alive and well.

Ian attributes him being alive today, and the success of Brother’s Bond Bourbon to Nikki. He says he was able to start his life over because of her.

Brother’s Bond Bourbon was released in 2021, but the story of the spirit dates back over a decade and one percent of its sales goes toward supporting renewable farming practices.
