Lizzo has opened up on her "complicated relationship" with food and the journey that led to her dramatic weight loss transformation.
The "About Damn Time" hitmaker revealed she's had "highs" and "lows" on her journey to lose weight and admitted that she went through a phase where she felt "very low energy," leading her to start "eating animal protein" again.
Lizzo had previously shut down rumors she used celebrity miracle drug Ozempic to achieve her slimmed-down figure but recently admitted to using it.
Lizzo Gets Candid About Her 'Complicated Relationship' With Food

In a recent interview with Women's Health, the Grammy-winning rapper opened up about her weight loss journey and what her new diet entails, explaining that her "relationship with eating has evolved so much."
"We've had highs, and we've had lows. Like it's a very complicated relationship. Um, there have been times where I have undernourished myself," she said, per the Daily Mail. "There have been times where I was binging. I feel like right now in my life, when I intuitively eat and listen to my body, that always works out for me."
Lizzo went further to share that at some point on her journey, she was feeling "very low energy" and started "eating animal protein" again, which helped her feel better.
"I had a period where I was experiencing a lot of like stomach pain and stomach issues," she continued, adding that her trainer at the time then "suggested a Japanese diet."
"When I had the opportunity to go to Japan for the first time, I was like, 'All right, let's put our toe in the water with a country whose food I know is very, very clean,'" she said. "And I started eating animal proteins over there. And I felt incredible."
The Singer Shared Her Food Regimen

Lizzo, born Melissa Jefferson, also discussed her health in another interview with the publication, where she revealed that she has adopted a high-protein, low-carb diet to help achieve her goals.
For breakfast, she typically has two scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, and a cauliflower hash brown.
In the afternoon, Lizzo eats a shredded Thai chicken salad or lettuce wraps stuffed with tuna or sliced chicken breast.
And for dinner, she often chooses turkey meatloaf with cauliflower mashed potatoes and green beans.
Lizzo Admits She Once Tried Ozempic

The "Good As Hell" singer had been hit with rumors suggesting she used ozempic to help her in her weight loss journey, but she often shut the talks down. However, she recently admitted to briefly using the popular drug.
In a June appearance on the "Just Trish Podcast," Lizzo shared that she'd tried ozempic and other GLP-1 drugs, which are typically used to treat type 2 diabetes but have become popular for appetite-regulating effects.
"I've tried everything," she admitted, per The Blast. "It's just the science, for me, calories in vs. calories out. Ozempic works because you eat less food."
"It makes you feel full. So, if you can just do that on your own and get mind-over-matter, it's the same," the rapper continued, adding that she was able to achieve her slimmed-down look by using the mind-over-matter method.
Going Vegan Didn't Work For Lizzo Either

When asked how she was able to remain consistent in her weight loss journey, Lizzo stated that "it was not being vegan."
Lizzo said, "Because when I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats. I was eating a lot of bread. I was eating a lot of rice, and I had to eat a lot of it to stay full. But really, I was consuming like 3,000 to 5,000 calories a day."
"So for me, when I actually started eating whole foods and eating like beef and chicken and fish, I was actually full and not expanding my stomach by putting a lot of like fake things in there that wasn't actually filling me up," she explained.
Lizzo Refused To Reveal The Exact Number She Has Lost

Earlier this year, Lizzo revealed she'd attained her goal weight after losing a whopping 16% of her body fat, but has seemingly chosen to keep the numbers a secret.
During an appearance on "The Jason Lee Show," the 37-year-old rapper refused to reveal the exact number of pounds she has lost since embarking on her weight-loss journey in 2023 but spoke about being bullied for her curves due to her confidence as a plus-sized woman.
"I think it was crazy to people because I was fat," she said, per the Daily Mail. "The shocking factor was that people couldn't believe that someone that looked like me was confident."
Host Jason Lee responded, "You were cute when you were bigger," before Lizzo fired back, "I was fine as f-ck!"
Lizzo was then asked to reveal the exact amount of weight she had lost on her journey, but she declined, saying, "If I say the number, I don't think people could do the math."
She continued, "I've just seen a lot of TikToks where it's like, 'Lizzo talks about her 500lbs weight loss!' Why are y'all putting numbers on me? It kind of annoys me."
