"I believe we need the leaders of the world to take advantage of what they've been given to do. To bring peace to all the world," the 74-year-old musician told the crowd. "I don't care who you are, you could be a president or a prime minister, it doesn't matter. Get your sh-t together!"

The audience erupted in applause, applauding not only his timeless music but also his timeless message. It wasn't the first time the "Isn't She Lovely" hitmaker has spoken out about the state of the world, and it likely won't be the last.

Earlier this year, Wonder made headlines after being asked about Donald Trump's controversial return to the White House.

Even offstage, Stevie Wonder remains deeply committed to using his voice for something greater than applause.

Backstage at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on October 30, just days before the 2024 election, the 25-time Grammy winner opened up about the purpose behind his unconventional tour.

"Motivating and inspiring everyone with a spirit of love is the key to moving forward," Wonder said, reflecting on his 11-city run titled "Sing Your Song! As We Fix Our Nation's Broken Heart."

"Look, I'm not 21, even though I might feel like I'm 35," he added with a laugh. "Here in life, we don't know how much time we have. And I understand that very clearly. We need to use every single second of our time to leave behind a better space for everyone."

During a November 2024 performance, Wonder emphasized the importance of unity amid rising global tensions.

"America as a whole needs to come together," he said. "There's always someone or some country somewhere that wants to take away the concept of democracy and what it means."

Throughout his decades-long career, the 25-time Grammy Award winner has never shied away from speaking truth to power, and he made it clear that he doesn't plan to stop now, even if some in the spotlight choose silence over risk.

"I think people are so scared of being canceled or being talked about, all this stupidness that goes on," he said. "God is my manager, so I've been given permission to manage myself… I listen to people I trust, but ultimately, I'm going to make my own decisions."

Stevie Wonder's recent comments about tuning out of politics mark a noticeable shift from the hopeful tone he carried during the 2024 election season.

Just last August, the "Superstition" singer delivered a passionate speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where he expressed optimism about a more unified future for the country.

At the time, Wonder made his support for then-candidate Kamala Harris clear, calling the choice between her and Donald Trump "clear" and urging Americans to rally behind compassion and change.

"Now is the time to understand where we are and what it will take to win: win the broken hearts, win the disenchanted, win the angry spirits, now is the time," he declared from the stage. "This is the moment to remember when you tell your children where you were and what you did… As we stand between history's pain and tomorrow's promises, we must choose courage over complacency. It is time to get UP and go vote!"

But with Trump's eventual return to the White House, Wonder's tone appears to have soured.

His recent statement, "I don't follow politics anymore. It's too much bullsh-t," suggests deep disappointment with the current state of affairs.

While he once rallied crowds with hope for unity, the legendary artist now appears disillusioned, retreating from the political spotlight to focus instead on truth, peace, and personal conviction.
