Elon Musk's latest move adds to the list of steps he has taken to challenge some of President Donald Trump's policies since their ongoing disagreement over the alleged unreasonable allocation of public funds.

The world's richest man seized the auspicious nature of July 4th to give users of his platform a choice to express their opinions on his plan.

"Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system! Should we create the America Party?" wrote Musk on his X account.

He followed up with a poll option where 65% of voters agreed that he should proceed with starting the new political platform.

Musk suggested that for the new party to influence legislative outcomes effectively, voters and party executives must concentrate on securing about two or three key Senate seats and targeting eight to ten critical House districts.

He added that with the current slim margins in the legislature, winning the planned seats could provide the necessary votes to sway "contentious laws," thereby ensuring the laws serve the "will of the people."

The X Owner's Poll Sparked Conversation About America's Political System

Musk's content for Independence Day gained over 60k replies from Americans across various party divides. One commenter noted, "Sounds like a great way to divide the Republican party," as another X subscriber lauded it as "a great idea."

A third commenter reminded the entrepreneur that he already voiced his intention to create a third party as soon as Trump passes the "Big Beautiful Bill" which may plunge America into debt. They encouraged Musk to get on with the plan instead of conducting online surveys.

"How do we know that non-Americans are not voting in this poll?" wrote one more X user, further raising a good point that online surveys may not be the best tool to measure public opinion as regards Musk's plan.

A verified X account promised to support Trump's move "depending on the policy initiatives," to which another commenter noted: "Reminds me of Colonel Gadaffi when he prematurely mentioned his new gold-based currency."

The duo was almost inseparable during the campaign season and the early days of Trump's administration. The 54-year-old was promptly appointed to head the Department of Government Efficiency, one of the most powerful advisory roles to the president.

As reported by PEOPLE, part of Musk's new role was to help reduce wasteful spending by the United States government and also streamline the government workforce and federal agencies.

Things flowed well between them until May 30, when Musk ended the job and criticized the president and Congress for hindering his efforts to make the government more prudent.

Since their feud, Musk and Trump have engaged in a series of exchanges on social media, bringing media attention to their issues.

In one of his numerous incriminating posts against Trump, The Blast shared that Musk boasted that the politician could not have made his way back to the White House without his input.

Describing the current president as an ingrate, Musk added: "Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate."

He also noted that Vice President JD Vance would make a better president if the House should remove or impeach Trump. Musk did not stop there; he claimed the real reason why Jeffrey Epstein's list had not been made public was because Trump's name was on it.

In line with his rage, a former friend of the tech giant, Philip Low, revealed that Musk feels humiliated by Trump and will take disastrous steps to make it known. He described Musk as a vindictive human who would do anything to damage his enemies, including Trump.

"The whole idea that Elon is going to be on his side and help woo Congress and invest in election campaigns for right-wing judges — Elon might do all of that, but deep down, it's over," the source affirmed.

While the former special advisor is trying hard to break into the political sphere, his company is not finding it easy to break into space. SpaceX suffered a major setback last month as one of the billionaire’s spaceships prepared to take off for its tenth flight test.

The vessel reportedly encountered an issue at the test stand. The mishap reportedly resulted in a powerful explosion that could be heard from miles away from the Texas Starbase facility near Boca Chica Beach.

The company described the latest occurrence as an anomaly in operation, but it is not the first time such has occurred. SpaceX’s 8th and 9th spaceship flight tests reportedly caused explosions as well, including a recent one in May.

Despite this, SpaceX issued a statement confirming that no community members were harmed during the operation, as they had urged residents to steer clear of the testing area.

The company added that “a clear area around the site was maintained throughout the operation, and all personnel are safe and accounted for.”
