Former NFL player Dez Bryant is facing widespread backlash from fans online after making controversial comments about Cassie Ventura, the ex-girlfriend of rap mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs.
Cassie's name has been a mainstay in the headlines since 2023, when she filed a bombshell lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend, with whom she had been in a relationship for just over a decade.
Months later, Diddy was arrested by law enforcement in New York and charged with serious crimes, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution.
On July 2, a grand jury acquitted Diddy of the more serious charges; however, he was found guilty of prostitution. The verdict sparked strong reactions among many, including fans, music lovers, and celebrities alike.

Dez Bryant, a former professional football player for the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens, expressed his opinion on the matter after an internet user raised concerns for Cassie and her family.
During her time on the stand, Cassie alleged she was forced to participate in drug-fueled sexual orgies, dubbed "freak offs," at the request of Diddy.
In her emotional testimony, the "Me & U" singer also claimed the alleged sexual encounters would sometimes last up to four days and often left her with mouth sores and UTIs.
"... as a woman, as a person, her testimony was heartbreaking, and i couldn't imagine how she feels this morning. It's the very unfortunate reality of women who experience sexual violence - the story is just never enough," a user wrote online, to which Bryant clapped back, sharing a provocative take.
"I respect your opinions heavy but Cassie wasn't no victim.. not even close," he wrote.

When a user replied to Bryant and pointed to the alarming video of Cassie being physically assaulted in a hotel hallway, Bryant offered clarification on his stance.
"I was referring to the freak offs and drugs she chose to participate in," he wrote.
But he didn't stop there. Bryant also argued that people in Hollywood have to take "accountability" for what they go through if they're willing to sacrifice themselves for a certain "lifestyle."
After a third user blasted the athlete for his "sad" stance on the matter, Bryant doubled down, saying both Cassie and Diddy were "wrong."
He added, "a lot of you women get weird whenever it's time to take accountability for your actions.. a sin is a sin neither is greater than the other."

Social media users began blasting the former NFL player immediately after posting about Cassie and Diddy, with one calling the Texas native a "f-cking dork."
Another user wrote, "F-ck you and every other person that thinks this. Thanks for making sure we knew you were complete sh-t."
"You saying Diddy was wrong but Cassie [wasn't] a victim is an oxymoron lol…How is Diddy wrong then?" a third user wondered.
"What about the assault on tape?" a fourth user posted. "She was definitely a victim, my guy."
Several other users also posted in response, referencing Bryant's previous arrest for allegedly assaulting his mother.
"Coming from someone who assaulted his own mom, your opinion on this matter holds little substance," someone posted.

According to ESPN, Bryant was arrested and charged with a Class A misdemeanor for assaulting a female family member before being released after posting his $1,500 bond in 2012.
The police report states that Bryant allegedly grabbed his mother, Angela Bryant, by her T-shirt and hair and struck her "across the face with his ball cap."
"I can't keep letting him do this," Bryant's mother said to 9-1-1 operators. "I can't keep letting him do me like this. I'm tired. I'm going to put an end to it today. I'm going to put an end to it today. I'm tired."
Prosecutors, however, dropped the charge against Bryant after the latter agreed to complete anger management courses and stay out of trouble for at least a year.
Diddy Will Be Sentenced In October 2025

Shortly after Diddy's verdict was read, his legal team requested that the rapper be released on bail until his sentencing hearing.
However, Judge Arun Subramanian denied the request, meaning the "Finna Get Loose" rapper will remain behind bars until his sentencing date, which is scheduled for October 3, 2025.
