TanaCon Organizer Michael Weist Apologizes Over 2018 Fiasco

You might know Michael G. Weist III as the CEO of "Good Times Entertainment," which put on one of social media's biggest events of 2018, TanaCon, but since then Weist has been harassed and been a victim cyberbullying for almost 3 years for a unplanned mistake.

Weist was one of the founders of TanaCon, and has been a controversial figure in the influencer entertainment industry for quite awhile, but the social media entrepreneur went on Dr.Phil this week, to in his words "clear my name, so that I could set the record straight."

In June on 2018, Mongeau along with Weist held TanaCon, which turned out to be one of social media's biggest events of the year ... because it was a giant flop.

The event was set to host around 5,000 individuals at max, and was held on the same week of VidCon's 2018 event.

Unexpectedly over 15,000 individuals showed up, and within four hours the event had to be shut down due to an overflow of people at the venue.

Social media videos reviled people waiting in lines for hours in the scorching sun dehydrated and quenched, and Weist was the one who everyone turned to when things started to go downhill.

As the Dr. Phil episodes on TanaCon air, Michael Weist tells The Blast:

"This whole experience was definitely like a wake-up call for me...obviously, I'm extremely grateful for the experience and the kind of eyeopening opportunity that was provided. Um, I've definitely been working a lot on myself...and just like, you know, I'm not the same person that was on that episode[Dr. Phil], which was literally filmed seven months ago."

Weist added, "I'm not the same person that was at TanaCon, which was three years ago...obviously this was a huge learning lesson for me, and, I got to continue to grow and learn as, you know, every young adult does throughout their career you know? becoming an adult. Um, so obviously, yeah, I'd like to apologize for anything that is my mistake and I take accountability for that for sure. "

While many people are stuck with PTSD from TanaCon, Weist is showing some personal growth by revealing what his conversation with Tana would be these days.

When asked by The Blast, "Is there anything you would like to say to Tana if you guys were on talking terms?" Weist responded, "Well, that's the question?... I mean, there's a lot of things," adding, "I'm sorry."

Over the past years many former influencers, employees and interns that worked with Weist have came forward alleging harassment, extortion and other things that most entrainment entrepreneurs would want to be accused of.

In an interview with Dr.Phil a former employee and friend of Weist, alleged that he had gotten physical and even threw a water bottle at the colleague.

In a separate part of the interview with Dr.Phil, an Influencer alleged that Weist scammed his client out of over $35,000 and also alleged that he has witnessed physical assault.

In a turn of events in 2018 Bryce Hall tweeted that he regretted alluding to sexual assault allegations that involved Weist, and alluded towards the fact that no sexual misconduct was in play by Weist.

In relation to Weist's May airing of the Dr.Phil show, Mongeau took to Twitter asking rhetorically "should i send dr phil a cease and desist lawsuit for fun."

When Weist was asked by The Blast what he thought about the Tweet, he responded with, "we didn't really talk about Tana at all...Yeah, I definitely don't feel that like, it was centric to Tana, we didn't talk about Tana."

On May 17, 2021, Mongeau circled back to Twitter saying, "dr phil had my back today," in response to the second part of Dr.Phil's airing of the show. So it seems like sending any legal documents to Dr.Phill just yet.

...As for Weist, who has come a long way in just three short years, finally admitting and owning his past mistakes.

You might wonder what Weist has been up to lately, and we have an answer.

Weist told The Blast that his new production company "just shot a commercial for the new Ford Bronco," and that they are "shooting a new reality show for a streaming platform that cannot be named."

Until then Weist might have to start from the bottom until he earns back the trust from many different individuals, but his now-public apology to Mongeau might be a good foot in the door.
