In a chilling new account, former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight has opened up about deceased rapper Tupac Shakur’s final moments, and according to him, they were marked with unbearable pain.
During a recent interview from prison, the convicted felon admitted that Tupac was riddled with gunshot wounds, and in his last moments, the injured rapper asked his mother, Afeni Shakur, to end his life.
To honor his wishes, she allegedly administered pills and instructed doctors not to resuscitate him. Now, Knight’s revelations have added a harrowing layer to one of hip-hop’s most enduring tragedies.
Tupac Allegedly Asked Knight To Kill Him

It’s been nearly three decades since Tupac’s 1996 shooting, and the tragedy still haunts the hip-hop world.
Recently, Knight exclusively spoke to PEOPLE about the events of that night, painting a haunting portrait of the 25-year-old’s final moments.
According to Knight, the night of the Las Vegas shooting was a nightmare of pain and fear. After being shot four times in the chest, arm, and thigh, and whisked to Nevada’s University Medical Center hospital, Tupac was battling critical injuries.
In that haze of agony, Knight revealed the rapper became terrified of landing in prison following an earlier casino altercation, and asked him to end his life.
“Kill me. Shoot me,” Tupac allegedly pleaded with the former record executive.
Afeni Shakur Accepts Her Son’s Plea To End His Life

Knight revealed Tupac feared prison more than death, and suicide wasn’t an option. So when the 60-year-old refused, Tupac allegedly turned to his mother, Afeni, asking her to ease his suffering, and according to Knight, she agreed.
“She gave him pills in an attempt to honor his wishes,” Knight recalled.
However, doctors quickly intervened, and although they initially experienced difficulties in reviving him due to excessive hemorrhaging, they eventually succeeded. But according to Knight, Afeni intervened and ordered medical staff not to resuscitate him if complications arose.
“Don’t ever do that again. If he’s having complications, don’t touch him. Don’t bring him back. Let him go,” Afeni allegedly said.
Tupac was then placed in an induced coma to take pressure off his damaged body. But sadly, at 4:03 pm on September 13, he was pronounced dead.
Suge Knight Says Tupac’s Friends Smoked His Ashes

Following Tupac’s demise, Knight revealed that some of the rapper’s closest friends sent him off in the most bizarre way.
According to him, they rolled up his ashes into a joint and smoked them.
“A bag of his ashes was passed around. His homies rolled him up. They smoked him,” Knight said. “You gotta understand, that’s what made sense. It was symbolic. It’s like… you keep part of him.”
However, Knight clarified that he didn’t partake in the activity as he was on probation.
“I was so happy to say I was on probation — I couldn’t smoke. I told his mother, ‘Moms, I’d love to but if I hit that, I’ll get in trouble. I was probably the only one who didn’t hit him,” Knight said.
Tupac’s Family Hired Lawyers Amid Claims Involving Diddy

Meanwhile, the case involving the last surviving suspect in Tupac’s murder remains in court.
In September 2023, Kefee D was arrested and charged with one count of murder with the use of a deadly weapon.
The following year, Kefee D attempted to post bail but was unsuccessful.
However, the filing led to the resurfacing of previous claims that disgraced rapper Diddy might have had a hand in Tupac’s murder.
Following the revelations, TMZ reported that Tupac’s family hired lawyers to investigate and get to the root of the claims.
According to the outlet, the family hoped to “dig up any potential evidence that exists to corroborate it,” and if any evidence supporting the claims were found, they would file a lawsuit.
Kefee D Claimed Diddy Offered $1 Million For Tupac’s Assasination

In one of the claims, Kefee D alleged during a 2009 police interview that Diddy offered a $1 million bounty to have Tupac killed.
According to reports, Diddy allegedly made the offer to high-level drug dealer Eric Von Martin during a tense period in the East Coast-West Coast rap feud.
Allegedly, the offer was a retaliatory move against Knight, the founder of the label Tupac was signed to during the latter part of his career.
"Puffy Combs….Does he play a role in this thing?…” the police had asked Keefe D during the interview, per the News Chronicle.
At the time, Kefee D had replied, “Yeah, I think he did.” Despite the claims, Diddy was never considered a suspect.
