During an interview with USA Today in 2018, Kattan opened up about the start of her career in the makeup industry.
"I kind of wanted to prove to my husband and my father that I really could take this leap – that it wasn’t just a hobby. I went to school in Los Angeles and then came back to Dubai and started working really aggressively right away," she recalled.

As Kattan recalled, she began focusing on her career in makeup after first becoming a beauty blogger. Then, after becoming pregnant, she took a step back.
"I stopped doing makeup full time and I kept just a few clients, like the (UAE) royal family and celebrities when they would come into town," she explained. "The blog had become this marketing tool that had allowed me to get into this new wave."
Although many of her peers thought she was crazy for giving out free advice on her website, it ended up being a good thing for the young mom.

"I was able to pick and choose (clients) and charge more money and work less and save up for what would later become our makeup brand," she noted.
Looking back at her career milestones, Kattan said that after launching her lash line in 2013, she moved on to color cosmetics.
