Malik Beasley's Wages Have Been Garnished Over His Large Amounts Of Debt

According to a detailed report from The Detroit News, Beasley has been facing financial trouble for some time now. In addition to the current federal investigation, Beasley is also being sued by multiple parties over unpaid debts.

During his time with the Milwaukee Bucks, Beasley was sued by a celebrity barber named Cairo Cuts, who was later awarded a $26,827 judgment against the NBA player.

Later, the 28-year-old was also sued by a dentist named Dr. Hassan Alshehabi, who won a $34,390 judgment against Beasley. The dentist has since begun garnishing Beasley's Detroit Pistons paychecks to recover the debt, which, according to court documents, remains unpaid.

But that's not the worst of it all.

Malik Beasley's Former Agent Sues Over $650,000 Loan, Seeks $2.25 Million In Damages

Beasley was sued again in April of this year by Hazan Sports Management Group. This New York-based sports agency claims Beasley failed to repay a $650,000 marketing advance against the athlete's future NIL (name, image, and likeness) earnings.

According to The Detroit News, Hazan is seeking at least $2.25 million in damages for alleged breach of contract.

In their lawsuit, Hazan explained that they made a "substantial investment of time, effort, and resources in a player with known issues (including and especially financial issues)... when they took [Beasley] on as a client and provided him with a substantial marketing advance in anticipation of helping Beasley become one of the premier players at his position."

Malik Beasley Under Investigation For Unusual Betting Patterns

Beasley is under investigation related to allegations stemming from unusual betting patterns on his player props during the 2023-24 season.

According to reports, the red flag that triggered the investigation occurred during a game on January 31 between the Milwaukee Bucks and Portland Trail Blazers.

A gambling industry source told ESPN that the odds on Beasley's line to record fewer than 2.5 rebounds "moved significantly before the game, shortening from around +120 to -250 due to a surge of action on the under."

Beasley finished the game with six rebounds, meaning all of the suspicious bets on his under line lost.

The NBA player's lawyer discussed the investigation, explaining that it differs from a criminal charge. "Malik is afforded the same right of the presumption of innocence as anyone else under the U.S. Constitution. As of now, he has not been charged with anything," he said.

NBA spokesman Mike Bass confirmed that the league is fully cooperating with federal prosecutors, saying, "We are cooperating with the federal prosecutors' investigation."

Other NBA Players Investigated For Gambling Concerns

Beasley isn't the only NBA player who has recently been under investigation related to gambling concerns.

Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier was also investigated in early 2025; however, no charges have been filed against him to date.

The investigation into Rozier began after a March 23, 2023, game, when the 31-year-old played only nine minutes and 36 seconds, finishing with five points, four rebounds, and two assists.

Bass provided the public with a statement in January 2025, saying, "The league conducted an investigation and did not find a violation of NBA rules. We are now aware of an investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York related to this matter and have been cooperating with that investigation."

On June 30, NBA insider Shams Charania said the NBA point guard had been "cleared" of wrongdoing by the league; however, the NBA was still "cooperating with federal prosecutors."
