In January 2025, Lizzo revealed that she had lost 16% of her body fat and lowered her body mass index (BMI) by 10.5 over the past two years.
“I did it,” she wrote in the caption. “Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal. I haven’t seen this number since 2014! Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!”
However, some fans were less than impressed. “Literally, she was all about body empowerment and loving your body no matter what size. But she didn’t believe it after all. Funny how that works.”

Other followers accused her of using Ozempic in order to achieve her weight loss goals. “Why every time someone starts losing weight, y'all want to yell Ozempic? As if y’all don’t see this girl putting the work in,” one user commented.
“How are you mad about someone losing weight? Some of y’all really need help,” another fan wrote. This comment got over 5,000 likes.
“I've lost 175, and let me tell ya: you become a different human physically and mentally. I'm proud of you. Slay queen,” another follower commented.

Featuring on the cover of Women's Health's latest issue, Lizzo opened up about her weight loss journey and her current diet. She revealed that she eats mostly protein and vegetables these days. One of her favorite breakfasts includes two scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, and a cauliflower hash brown.
For lunch, she likes to eat a shredded Thai chicken salad, lettuce wraps stuffed with tuna, and sliced chicken breast. Her dinner is also pretty routine, as she enjoys turkey meatloaf with cauliflower mashed potatoes and green beans. However, she tends to eat earlier these days, making sure to finish eating by 5 PM.
Coming Clean About GERD

In the interview, the singer revealed that she struggles with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), so it helps her body to stop eating earlier in the day. "I have GERD, so my body needs time to digest food before I go to sleep, so acid doesn’t roll up to my throat," she explained.
According to the Mayo Clinic, GERD happens "when stomach acid flows back up into the esophagus and causes heartburn." Symptoms include heartburn, upper belly pain, chest pain, trouble swallowing, and backwash of food or sour liquid in the throat.
Vegan For A Year

Lizzo is now enjoying chicken, tuna, and turkey after being vegan for about a year. Although she didn't go into specifics, she admitted that she was not approaching the diet in the "healthiest way."
She told the publication that she "wasn't getting the nutrients" that she needed on a vegan diet, as she was mostly eating "bread, soy, cashew cheese, and meat substitutes." Now, she has shifted her diet to put an emphasis on whole foods that includes both protein and healthy carbs.
