Britney Spears today admitted she was trying her best, but the 39-year-old pop princess wasn't having much luck in the kitchen. On Monday, the "Toxic" hit-maker updated her Instagram with a brief insight into how her attempts at gourmet cuisine are going, with the star's 29.8 million followers learning that sauce isn't her forte. Britney, who made headlines this year for recreating her favorite NYC deli sandwich with an impressive home video, didn't show the food, but there was plenty to look at. Check it out below.

Scroll for the photo. Britney updated with a quote, one reminding fans that picking yourself back up after failed tries is something to embrace - per the quote, as many times as is necessary. The blonde's post came with: "NORMALIZE STARTING OVER AS MANY TIMES AS YOU NEED" against a plain background.

The caption is where it got busy, though. Britney wrote: "Kinda where I’m at at the moment?????‍♀️??‍♀️ !!!!! Working on some amazing gourmet food in the kitchen ??‍??? ... I just can’t get the sauce right ???? !!!!!!"

Spears, who continues to make headlines for saying she was "embarrassed" after "Framing Britney Spears" amid her legal troubles with 68-year-old dad Jamie Spears, now sees fans wondering if she's sending signals. "That's a metaphor, right??" one asked, and the comment quickly gained likes. Another, meanwhile, asked if it was "code" for Britney working on new music.

In April, Britney went tutorial-style as she tried her best as she told fans: "15 years ago, I used to go this place in New York City called Schlotsky’s Deli Sandwiches." The star's plan was to recreate the tasty snack for summer: “I’ve made a tiny sandwich. A little goes a long way," she said.

The latest from Britney comes as she jumps ahead of other celebrities with plans for Halloween 2021. Sharing photos of herself with her new pink hair and in a green metallic catsuit, the singer updated, writing:

"I missed Halloween last year ??? …. Any ideas on who I should be this year ???? Dear Lord I’m rooting for all of you nice folks this year as well … F-ck off COVID ?????? here’s to a great rest of 2021 !!!!! PS no touch ups or filter on this pic ?!!!!!"
