Jennette McCurdy's bestselling memoir is about to hit a TV near you!

"I'm Glad My Mom Died" is being adapted into a scripted Apple TV+ series after its massive success. The project is generating additional buzz with the announcement of which A-lister will be playing McCurdy's narcissistic and controlling mother - Jennifer Aniston.

McCurdy's memoir chronicles her life as a child actor, her turbulent relationship with her mother, and how she turned things around to heal.

Apple TV+ announced on Tuesday, July 1, that "iCarly" star McCurdy's bestselling memoir is going to be turned into a television series.

"I'm Glad My Mom Died" will be turned into a 10-episode dramedy that McCurdy will serve as showrunner and writer. While it's inspired by McCurdy's bestselling memoir, it will be a more fictionalized version of the book. Aniston will be playing the lead role of McCurdy's narcissistic and controlling mother, as well as executive produce the show.

The show will center on the relationship between the child actress and her mother. Casting for McCurdy's character hasn't been announced yet, nor has a release date.

'I'm Glad My Mom Died' Spent More Than 80 Weeks On The New York Times Best Seller List

Published on August 9, 2022, by Simon & Shuster, the memoir has grabbed enough positive attention to stay on the New York Times Best Seller List for more than 80 weeks.

McCurdy often celebrated the book's success on her Instagram page. At the 40-week mark, she shared a post celebrating the big success. She captioned the post, "No I’m not turning 40 lol. But 40 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller List for IGMMD?! I can’t believe it. I can’t believe millions of you (millions ?!) have taken the time to read this book and have connected with it so deeply. The past nine months have been a wild ride for me, and beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I appreciate every second of it. Thank you all for making it happen."

When the book hit 80 weeks, she shared, "Thank you so much for making IGMMD a New York Times Bestseller for 80 weeks. And back as the #1 audiobook. Insane!! Appreciate you all."

Jennette McCurdy Took Her Book On Tour

To promote "I'm Glad My Mom Died," McCurdy took her book on the road for a few months, visiting a variety of locations. One memorable stop for the actress was Sydney, Australia.

"Speaking at the Sydney Opera House was unforgettable!! Years ago, I hit what I consider my 'rock bottom' in Australia, in the backseat of an Uber, while looking at the Sydney Opera House from afar, down a tooth and a lot of hope, fresh off purging my Tim Tams," she shared.

"I was at a place where I didn’t really believe things could get better but knew if there was any chance of that happening, of things changing, that I was gonna have to start by changing the only thing I had any control over: myself."

She further explained why she's so proud of her accomplishments and returning to Australia under "different circumstances."

"To have gone back to Australia now, years later, under completely different circumstances - for a career I am proud of and, more importantly, as a person I am proud of - and to connect with an audience in a real, meaningful way (IN THE F-CKING SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE ITSELF!! ) was a once-in-a-lifetime moment for me."

McCurdy began acting at the young age of 8 and eventually rose to stardom while co-starring on "iCarly" on Nickelodeon. She later shifted to the spinoff, "Sam & Cat" with Ariana Grande.

Her memoir takes readers on her journey as a child star whose mother was mentally and physically abusive. It details the good, the bad, and everything in between throughout her journey.

She shared stories about her narcissistic mother's abuse, what it was like for her being a child actor, how she battled an eating disorder, and other dark and heartbreaking moments, but with some humor mixed in to lighten the mood.

Being Forced Into Acting By Her Mother

In the memoir, McCurdy shares how she was forced into acting at a young age by her mother and the trauma that followed. She told PEOPLE that her "earliest memories of childhood were of heaviness and chaos" thanks to her mother's "emotions" being "so erratic." She likened it to "walking a tightrope every day."

She wrote about how her mom was obsessed with her becoming a star and the lengths she went to make sure it happened. She also explained why she went along with it and shared how it affected her health and how she healed.

"It was only distance from [my mom] that allowed me to get healthy," she told PEOPLE.
