Chris Brown has one less legal debacle to worry about.

The R&B singer has reportedly laid one part of his ongoing legal drama in the U.K. to rest and can now carry on with the rest of his Breezy Bowl stadium tour.

Chris Brown was previously held in custody in Manchester, United Kingdom, over the case where prosecutors charged him with assault and weapon possession.

Last Friday, the singer’s accuser, Abe Diaw, reportedly asked a Los Angeles County judge to dismiss the case with prejudice. This means that Diaw can no longer refile the case, and it also indicates that both parties have resolved the case through a settlement.

It is, however, uncertain if the performer and his accuser agreed on a monetary sum or if it was a cordial discussion. In his lawsuit against the “With You” singer in 2023, Diaw accused him of hitting him with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 till he became unconscious.

The singer allegedly resorted to stomping him with his feet, inflicting injuries on him. Diaw claimed the incident happened at the TAPE nightclub in London two years ago. Should the judge sign off on the dismissal, TMZ confirmed that the singer still has a pending criminal case related to the incident.

Last year, Diaw claimed that the artist refused to acknowledge his lawsuit despite serving him twice at his L.A. home in February and April 2024.

As reported by The Blast, the victim claimed that the singer failed to respond to the complaint or the first amended complaint, thereby exceeding the “statutory time limit for doing so.”

Diaw asked the court to grant him a default judgment, as Brown had effectively refused to utilize his opportunity to contest the claims identified in the lawsuit.

He reiterated that the singer owed him $16 million for treatment for injuries, damages, and losses he suffered during the alleged attack.

Diaw shared that doctors informed me that he had suffered torn ligaments and head injuries when he woke up at the hospital. He added that the lawsuit possessed clips from the night of the assault to help back up his claim.

Brown returned to the United Kingdom a few weeks after his arrest with his team of lawyers to enter a not-guilty plea on the charge of causing bodily harm to Diaw.

As reported by The Blast, the artist appeared at Southwark Crown Court around 10 a.m. on June 20, 2025, to enter a plea. He dressed up in a navy blue suit paired with a white shirt and clear shades.

Inside the premises, Brown reportedly only uttered the words "not guilty" and provided his identity and information about his date of birth. His co-defendant and producer, Omololu Akinlolu, was also present in court to go through the same process.

The case was then reportedly adjourned until July 11, when the next hearing was scheduled to take place. The main trial for the case was scheduled to commence on October 26, 2026.

Brown was picked up by local authorities in the early hours of May 15 at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester, a few hours before he was billed to appear in court.

Reports from the London Metropolitan Police confirmed that the artist was indeed taken into custody on the allegations of causing bodily harm to an individual.

The authorities added in their statement that the February 2023 incident was closely investigated and supervised by officers and agents of the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.

Following his arrest, his close friend and NFL superstar, Odell Beckham Jr., publicly canvassed for his immediate release. "Free Breeeezyyy. The moral compass will never lie. We waiting on ya," Odell wrote on a picture of Brown posted on his Instagram Story.

There is no gainsaying that the artist has one of the most controversial profiles in Hollywood and the entertainment industry. Perhaps the biggest one in his career was the 2009 physical assault case involving his then-girlfriend and pop star, Rihanna.

PEOPLE shared that the actor pleaded guilty to a felony in the case in 2009, accepting a plea deal of community labor, five years of probation, and domestic violence counseling. Brown's episode with Rihanna resulted in a visa denial for a short tour of the U.K. and Ireland in 2010.

In 2012, he reportedly violated a restraining order issued by a judge due to his proximity to Rihanna. By 2013, he had his probation revoked after an alleged involvement in a hit-and-run in Los Angeles.

The singer got an official diagnosis of bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder in 2014 while in rehab. Eight years later, in 2022, an unidentified woman accused the singer of raping her after drugging her in Miami.

He was sued by four concertgoers in 2024 for alleged "brutal, violent assault." The assault reportedly occurred backstage, and they demanded $50 million in damages.

As 2025 began, Brown fought back Warner Bros in a $500 million lawsuit for producing the documentary "Chris Brown: A History of Violence." He accused the production company and the documentary producers of peddling a false narrative against him.

Will Chris Brown be able to clear his London case totally?
