Actress Quinta Brunson is finally speaking about her divorce on her terms.
At the peak of her career, with her hit show, "Abbott Elementary," making waves, the actress filed for divorce from her husband of almost four years, Kevin Anik, earlier this year.
However, it wasn't her plan for the world to have access to her private life.
Quinta Brunson Didn't Want Divorce Drama To Be Public

Brunson touched on divorce in a new interview, admitting that she wasn't ready to share such personal news with the world. However, her hands were tied because it was all public information.
"I remember seeing people be like, ‘She announced her divorce.' I didn’t announce anything," the actress declared. She explained that, unlike what fans may believe, celebrities don't always want to share personal life details. In her words:
"I think people have this idea that people in the public eye want the public to know their every move. None of us do. I promise you.
She continued, "No one wants [everyone] to know when you buy a house, when you move, when a major change happens in your personal life. It’s just that that’s public record information."
Lamenting about the downsides of fame, Brunson told the interviewer, "I hate all of it."
The 'Big Mouth' Star Is In A 'Transitional Phase'

Although Brunson didn't go into details about her ongoing divorce, she dished on how she is handling the "transitional" period.
"It's a transitional time," the 31-year-old shared. "I think it's true for me and my personal life, and it's how I feel about myself, my career, and the world."
Brunson continued, "I feel very serious about focusing on watering my own gardens, taking care of myself, and the people around me who I actually interact with day-to-day."
In the interview with Bustle Magazine, the Janine Teagues actress further touched on how she handles the never-ending opinions on her personal life.
Describing the chatter as "invisible voices," Brunson says she has learned "to tune it out," especially during challenging times, such as her divorce.
Inside Quinta Brunson's Divorce From Kevin Anik

In a shocking move, Brunson pulled the plug on her marriage to Anik in March 2025, filing divorce documents at the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Like most celebrity divorces, the actress cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason behind the split. She, however, shared no details about the date of the separation.
Brunson also requested that the court honor their postnuptial agreement. The distribution of their properties will be determined by that agreement.
Given that the pair had no children during their union, there will be no child support payments and no custody issues.

Despite being in the spotlight, Brunson managed to keep the entirety of her marriage to Anik super private. Little is known about how their love story began.
However, the actress confirmed their engagement in July 2020. She shared the exciting news in an Instagram post, flaunting her engagement ring, captioned, "More good news." Less than a year later, the pair tied the knot.
Although Brunson rarely posted her now-estranged husband on social media, she acknowledged him during award ceremonies. Such was the case when she took home the award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series at the 2022 Emmys.
During her acceptance speech, she praised Anik, saying, "In case I am not back up here again, I have to thank my mom, dad, brothers and sisters, my cousins ... my wonderful husband because he's the most supportive man I've ever known."
The 'Abbott Elementary' Star's Husband Won't Respond To Divorce Filing

Following Brunson's divorce filing, reports say Anik has failed to file a response.
After about three months of waiting to hear back, the "A Black Lady Sketch Show" actress proceeded to the next step of the proceedings. Her lawyer, Laura Wasser, a renowned expert in handling celebrity divorces, tendered all required financial disclosures.
As The Blast reported, Brunson turned over her financial statements to Anik, showing her income, expenses, assets, and debts.
The award-winning star also included a list of assets she deemed to be community property, as well as her personal property, to aid the process.
