By Evie Scott on July 1, 2025 at 6:00 PM EDT

Sydney Sweeney fell under heavy fire earlier this month when fans reacting to her bathwater soap drama wouldn't leave her alone. The actress, 27, recently made headlines for her limited-edition Dr. Squatch bathwater soap selling out instantly, with resales on Ebay going as high as $2,000 per bar. Fans, who tend to support Sydney, lashed out by the masses, saying that she's basically taken feminism back a decade. On June 8, Sydney posted a stunning snap of herself in a plunging ball gown. Celebrating a glam appearance in New York City, the Euphoria star flaunted her world-famous figure in her low-cut number, but the comments section wasn't interested in her fashion choice.

Opting for a ravishing shade of red and fairytale accents, the blonde flaunted her cleavage in a strapless, low-cut dress with a fitted bodice and massive ball gown skirt. Displaying her slender waistline via her tight bustier top, Sydney also showed off her bikini tan lines, proving that she's been making the most of the sun at her $13.5 million Florida mansion.

Rocking layered fabrics above the waist as her dress accentuated her figure, Sydney posed with her arms behind her back, completing her look with her hair worn down. The Hollywood favorite donned a full face of makeup, with her gallery also including more casual looks from her time in the Big Apple. In a caption, she wrote: "NYC" with a check emoji.
While the post caught over 1.5 million likes, it's littered with complaints. The vast majority of the most-liked replies came from users trashing Sydney over agreeing to make soap made from water she bathed in. "What's next? Toilet water soap?" was a question gaining over 4,000 likes. "Syd ily but please stop with the male validation," another fan wrote.

Sydney was also accused of removing remarks left by fans. Over 2,000 fans agreed when a user replied: "WWOWWW she is deleting the comments for sure." If Sydney did delete her Instagram comments, she didn't do a thorough job. Plenty more negative replies are still live on the post, including one reading:
"The way you set us back years of fighting against sexualization and the rights of women is so disgusting."

This remark earned over 5,000 likes. Sydney made headlines earlier this year for a sultry bath soak ad as she debuted her campaign for Dr. Squatch. The actress is also an ambassador for designer Miu Miu, Samsung mobile, Armani Beauty, and Laneige Beauty.
Sydney Sweeney received no complaints for the above look, one she donned for the Vanity FairOscar Party 2025 earlier this year. Wowing in a crystal-studded dress in pale pink, she kept things girly in her plunging look, also going body-hugging while highlighting her hourglass curves.
