Dick Van Dyke's fans were left concerned after the legendary actor was forced to drop out of his musical fundraising event, Vandy Camp, at the last minute due to illness.

The 99-year-old star was scheduled to host the event on Saturday alongside his wife, Arlene Silver, but was unable to attend due to not feeling well.

During her speech at the event, Silver addressed the audience and shared the disappointing news.

She explained that her husband was not having a “good day” and would not be able to join them. “I have to inform you that Dick is not up to coming to celebrate with us today,” she said, per Daily Mail. “I’m sorry.”

Silver continued to explain that at 99-and-a-half years old, Dick Van Dyke has both good and bad days. “When you’re 99-and-a-half years old, you have good days and bad days,” she shared. “And unfortunately, today is not a good day for him, and he’s sick that he can’t be here.”

"Best wishes to this wonderful person," one of his fans said after hearing the news.

"Hope he's okay!" another said.

"Sending my best to a wonderful actor," a third expressed.

Despite his absence, Dick Van Dyke did make an appearance via a livestream during the event.

Silver expressed confidence that the iconic actor would be back at the next Vandy Camp in person. She also took the opportunity to speak about her husband's deep passion for the event, emphasizing that it is much more than just about Dick Van Dyke.

“This is a celebration of your childhood, all of our childhoods, the music that’s in the fabric of all of us, and Dick Van Dyke is a big part of that,” she said.

She also reflected on how much the fans mean to them, adding, “His supporters are the greatest human beings I’ve ever known. These Vandy Camp events are a wonderful opportunity to have you all in the same room and meet each other.”

Silver went on to speak lovingly about her husband of 13 years, with whom she shares a 46-year age gap. “Being around him just as a human being has made me a better person,” she said, clearly touched by their bond.
