Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a genius way of avoiding the paparazzi now that they live in the United States — and it involves a system of connecting with their very famous neighbors.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently purchased a home in the Montecito area of Santa Barbara, California. As you can imagine, many of the L.A.-based photographers love getting shots of the royal couple and their growing family.
But, as you know, one of the reasons they left England was the pressure they felt from the tabloids. So, they hatched a plan with some very famous neighbors to combat the situation.
You Gotta See This!
Apparently, the famous couple lives right up the street from Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry, so the famous foursome keeps each other in the loop about photographers who make the trip up to their neck of the woods.
Prince Harry appeared on the Armchair Expert podcast with hosts Dax Shepard and Monica Padman, where he described the situation.
“Just two days ago, Orlando Bloom sent me a message — because he’s just down the road and we sort of keep in contact because of the paparazzi — he sent me a photograph which his security got of this long-haired guy with a beanie on, with his ear pods in, with his massive camera lying in the back of his 4×4 truck,” Harry explained.

He continued, “A woman driving who did the peace sign sitting there as a distraction, and he is laid down in the back of this truck taking photographs of them out with their kid and whoever else is in that area.” Obviously, he could in turn steer clear of the area.
Interestingly, Harry did admit that living in Southern California is “way better” than living in England.
“Here, I can actually lift my head and I feel different. My shoulders have dropped, so has hers,” he said. Adding, “You walk around feeling a little bit more free. I get to take Archie on the back of my bicycle. I never had the chance to do that.”
